We might only wish to consider the self-care of healthy routines, good rest, and exercise. But there is also the care we show towards those aspects of self we don’t really like. What happens when we soften towards them, get curious and interested? These isolated parts of us have the ability to open and transform when we care for them.

From an embodied point of view, letting go is the dissolving of a structured way of being into a fluid and open expression. Whatever was cramped and tight starts to move. Sometimes it is as simple as, ‘Oh, I can breathe easier now.’

I'd like to emphasize two elements of K*m Nye:  The practice has a softness, and yet a firmness. There is no need for effort, force, trying to change, getting somewhere, etc.  We develop a curious, interested, kind, appreciative, even loving approach as we practice. Yet, this is not an indulgence. Our firmness lies in recognizing when we might want to move away from something that feels uncomfortable, or challenging, or new, or uncertain. We recognize, and then choose to stay with it and move closer. This is the discipline of the practice, and yet it requires discernment to know the difference between firmness (which has a quality of encouragement) and force ( which has a quality of opposition)🧘🏼‍♀️✨

Quite often, we’ll resist what’s clearly in our best interest. There's also the adage, what we resist, persists. We resist, and then fight with ourselves because we resisted. You might have guessed the approach of K*m Nye is to befriend.Yet this does not mean to indulge. To meet our resistance, it helps to understand and develop a conscious relationship with it. And yes, even a quality of openness and appreciation.

We might start by re-framing our resistance as: 'our very well established protective inner allies'. And they do function extremely well. It serves us to be in some level of awe about their ability to run the show. And this awe may lead us towards a curiosity about how they are organized, and how their energies might be better channelled; from ‘no way’ to ‘here I am’.
