Antioxidants: The Sunscreen Sidekick Your Skin Needs

Most of us know that the use of an SPF can reduce the risk of skin cancer and prevent premature skin ageing. But did you know that antioxidants can increase the effectiveness of your sun protection?

Sunscreens are great, but they don’t offer 100% protection against the sun’s harmful rays.

Antioxidants can help compensate for the shortcomings of sun protection (and faulty application). Antioxidants neutralise the free radical damage caused by exposure to the sun. In addition, antioxidants help protect your skin against other sources of free radicals, such as blue light from digital devices. Without intervention, this damage can cause all sorts of unwelcome skin problems.

Simply put: antioxidants boost the effectiveness of your sunscreen and ensure maximum protection, while also repairing any skin damage that may have been caused.

My top recommdations for antioxidants are: CE Ferulic and Phloretin CF as well as Daily Power Defense

What is multi-masking?

Multi-masking is an effective tool to have in your tool box, because it allows you to create a customized solution to address your specific skin needs, area by area.

If you have a skin type that’s both oily and dry, combination and dehydrated, and more, you can reap the benefits of different types of masks—that’s where multimasking comes in.

Say, for instance, you have a very oily T-zone, but dry, flaky skin on your cheeks. Using an oil-absorbing mask might be great for your nose, chin, and forehead, but not ideal for the rest of your face. The opposite is also true: A rich hydrating mask to soothe your cheeks doesn’t work for the oilier areas of your skin.

Try considering the masques you have available and the benefits behind them, are those benenfits going to improve your skin in that specific area?

My multi-masking products:

T-Zone —— Complexion Clearing Masque by : to suck up all the bacteria in my pores.

Cheeks and forehead——— Phyto Corrective Masque by : to calm and rehydrate the skin

the time is now.....⌛️

The eye area is easily neglected. It's small and easy to forget. When you start to moisturize, you should start to use an eye cream as well.

If you’re stocked up on SPF foundations, bronzers, and cosmetics I’m proud of your dedication to protecting yourself from the sun. But—sorry to disappoint—SPF makeup is just no substitute for real deal sunscreen.

To get the appropriate sun protection that is built into cosmetics, you’d need to apply 15+ layers to get protection similar to 1 layer of facial sunscreen.... talk about cake face. 🙄

Incorporate sunscreen into your everyday routine for ultimate protection. Make sure to apply after your corrective serums and creams, and before your primer and foundation.

Tip 💡 for buying sunscreen:
-Mineral Sunscreens are safest for the skin
-30 SPF minimum.... but you really should get the 50 😉
-Make sure it is a facial sunscreen and non-comedogenic (doesn’t clog pores)

When it comes to fine lines, breakouts and anti-aging, there's no ingredient quite as powerful as retinol.

Retinol promotes skin renewal, brightens skin tone, reduces acne, and boosts collagen production. It also functions as an antioxidant, addressing free radical damage and the visible signs of sun-damage.

You’re probably thinking... too good to be true? Nope this is all facts! Retinol is gold💛

This active ingredient can be quite intimidating. Check below ⏬ to see how to apply your retinol for best success!

When starting with retinol remember that low and slow is the way to go.

-Retinol is always a PM 🌙 application
-Start with 1 application your first week, 2 applications your second week, etc.
-Remember that the anticipated reaction retinol application is pink/redness and flaking appears in the skin 2-3 days after application
-You will not always experience these reactions and will lessen with tolerance built to the ingredient
-Start with a lower % and build up ^
-Remember Rome wasn’t built in a day and it takes time for correction. Retinol is a long game product.

DM me for any questions, I’d love to get you started on your retinol journey.

How does the work?

The treatment uses vortex suction combined with a salicylic acid solution to purge the pores of oil, bacteria, and debris, then re-hydrates it with specialized moisturizers. Your pores are cleansed and revitalized, and since there’s no irritation or breaking of the blood vessels, no accompanying redness. If you have a treatment in the afternoon, you can be rested and makeup ready for a night out that evening.

Is a good skin day even a real thing?

Yes it totally is!

What do you do on good skin days?
Put on a bold lip, take a selfie, enjoy it!

It’s normal to have ups and downs with your skin, just like our hair, our bodies and even the weather!

But what should you do on a bad skin day?
Put on a bold lip, take a selfie and remember that consistency is key so keep up with your skincare routine.

If thats not enough, go see a professional! We’re here to help ☺️

Think of ceramides as the mortar between bricks—if the bricks are your skin cells. Ceramides help hold skin together by forming a protective layer that limits moisture loss and protects against visible damage from pollution and other environmental stressors.

When I’m feeling dry from my retinol applications or my skin is changing with the season... I grab for my triple lipid from for relief.

If you have any questions or are dealing with seasonal dryness, send me a DM for more info ☺️
