Meet Theo, from Regina, Sask. 💚 When Kaylene and Gabe welcomed their son Theo in January 2023, what should have been a joyful moment quickly turned into fear and uncertainty. Born with facial differences, Theo was diagnosed with Treacher Collins syndrome— a rare condition affecting facial bone and tissue development that severely restricted his airway.
Theo was airlifted to Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, where he spent over 2 months in the NICU. There, a dedicated team of specialists performed life-saving tracheostomy and G-tube surgeries.
“All of our specialists were incredibly knowledgeable about what Theo needed. We were blown away by the cohesiveness and confidence of our care team, and they quickly became our anchor," said Gabe, Theo's Dad.
JPCH has truly become a home away from home for the family. In addition to attending Theo’s specialist appointments and preparing for his upcoming procedures, his older brother, Arthur, has also undergone several surgeries at the hospital.
Today, Theo is a happy, energetic little boy who loves to dance and loves playing with his big brother and family dog, Ivy. His family credits the compassionate, world-class care at JPCH for giving them hope, strength and a deeper appreciation for life.
