I’m Ben Kwan.

For many years, my health stayed stable, and I was able to continue doing what I love most, teaching. Recently, things have started to change, and my condition is now progressing. Most people don’t step forward to become kidney donors.
Not because they don’t care, but because they’ve been told the wrong things.

This post is here to change that.

There are so many myths around kidney donation that it’s unsafe, that your life changes forever, or that you need to be a perfect match.

The truth is far more hopeful. Healthy individuals can live completely normal lives with one kidney, and modern medicine has made the process safer than ever.

I am currently searching for a living donor.
Time matters. Awareness matters. You matter.

March is National Kidney Awareness Month. I never thought kidney health would become such a big part of my story, but here we are.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: Don’t wait. Get tested. Ask questions. Advocate for your health.
