Do you or your organization want to support this work? You can, and it takes about a minute 🦁

We have created a letter of support that parents, caregivers, community members, and organizations can sign. It is a simple statement: we want more inclusive, accessible, strengths based programming for children, youth, and families in our community.

That covers inclusive camps, STEM activities, emotional wellness workshops, parenting supports, leadership development, and life skills programming. It covers families who are too often left out of the picture, including neurodivergent children and youth, families living with learning disabilities, BIPOC families, and families for whom cost is the barrier.

Two ways to support us:

- Donate, if you are able. Voluntary e-transfers to [email protected] help us keep these programs affordable and open to more families.

That's a wrap on camp 🦁

These 2 weeks of experiments, games, and learning, were amazing!

We watched the kids test ideas, build things, get a little messy, and surprise themselves with what they could do. That is the part we never get tired of.

To every parent who trusted us with your child this summer, thank you. Inclusive programming only works when families show up for it, and you did.

Last week we joined CBC News at the Brackley Community Centre for a conversation about supporting learners of all ages, learning styles, and abilities, including neurodivergent individuals.

We approached it the way we approach our programming: from a position of strength. Not deficits to be managed, but abilities, lived experience, and the conditions that let people participate fully.

Community members joined us to share their own experiences and speak to why inclusive supports matter.

For organizations weighing how to serve a wider range of participants, the shift is usually less about resources than about design. Environments built for a range of learners tend to work better for everyone in them.

Back to school prep, but make it neurodivergent-friendly. Swipe through for a few questions worth asking before the first day.

The start of a new school year can bring a lot of unknowns, especially if your child processes transitions differently. You know your child best, and asking the right questions early can save everyone a lot of stress once September actually arrives.

Emotional intelligence is not a soft skill. It is the skill that determines whether every other skill gets used well.

Technical ability gets individuals hired. Emotional intelligence is what determines whether they can navigate conflict, receive feedback, lead a team through a hard quarter, or read a room before it becomes a problem.

Today is National Nonprofit Day, and we want to take a moment to recognize the organizations doing this work across PEI and Atlantic Canada.

Nonprofits operate with fewer resources, higher expectations, and more heart than almost any other sector. Every program that runs, every family that gets support, every community event that comes together, happens because someone decided the mission mattered more than the constraints.

We are proud to work alongside so many incredible organizations in this province, and grateful for what they make possible every single day.

Last week, we spent an evening with the volunteers who help make STEM PowerED possible.

Running a summer camp takes more than curriculum and logistics. It takes individuals who show up, again and again, to make sure every kid who walks through the door has someone in their corner. We wanted to take a night to properly thank ours, and make sure the team going into these final camp weeks is as connected and prepared as the kids they're supporting.

To every volunteer who gave their evenings and weekends this summer: thank you. STEM PowerED would not be what it is without you.
