Happy Halloween Everyone! This month we took time to develop and write a Halloween Story for you all. Hope you enjoy it!

A NeLL Halloween
It was a dark and stormy night. The thunder boomed like a bowling ball rolling towards the pins. The lightening was as powerful as Zeusâs strikes. The wind was fierce, like a tornado sweeping up the fallen leaves.
Despite the weather New Leaf Link was at the neighbourhood Halloween Carnival. Kids of all ages were dressed in costumes ranging from a honey bear to a clown.
There are pumpkins of various size and colours lighting up the fairground. At the pumpkin station Joel (dressed as The Fonz) and Amy (dressed as Spider Woman) are carving some spooky designs .
Cody (dressed as Michael Jackson) and Alex (dressed as Wonder Woman) are handing out chocolate and chips to the trick or treaters.
âKingâ Keifer, Mitchell (dressed as Elvis) and Cara (dressed as a witch) are feeling the effects of the wind as they ride the Ferris wheel.
Or are they?
You see good reader, the carnival is on haunted groundâŚ.there is a cemetery just below the surface and the âresidentsâ are not happy. Ghosts have surfaced and were starting to scare everyone!
They started by pushing on the Ferris wheel shaking it back and forth. At the Pumpkin station they were jumping out of the pumpkins scaring Amy and Joel. At the Apple Bobbing station Kyla and David both dressed as Ghost Busters were working hard on plucking their sweet treats from the water bins when the spectres traded the crisp, crunchy apples for soft, rotten apples filled with slimy snakes and gooey worms. YUCK!!
At the Carnival Haunted House, Oakley and Michael are reaching into the bowl of eyeballs when out of nowhere Vampires appear, surrounding them. The two friends scream in horror and run as fast as they can pushing the vampires out of the way.
They burst through the front door and run towards the Apple bobbing station , where they find Kyla and David spitting out mouthfuls of rotten apples, pieces of snakes skin and chunks of worms.
âNo time for snacks!â, shouts Oakley, âweâve got Vampires in the Haunted House.
âOh no! And weâve got ghosts here as well. We gotta runâ shouts David and Kyla together.
The four friends run to the Pumpkin station where they find Amy and Joel throwing handfuls of pumpkin guts at (and through) the ghosts.
âLeave me and Joel ALONE! Go away and never come back, Amy screams as she hurls another ball of guts at the spectres. In true Fonz fashion Joel gives a âthumbs up and a cool Heeey!â
âJoel! This isnât time for showing off!â, says Amy.
âMy badâ says Joel. He looks up and says âlook at the Ferris wheelâ. The group turns around to see Cara, Mitchell and Keifer shouting, âHelp me! Help us! Get Chris, Brandy and Julieâ
âBumper carsâ yells Cody. âNo time for that nowâ says Michael.
âNo, Chris, Brandy and Julie are at the Bumper carsâ, explains Cody.
Quick as a flash, Oakley sprints to the Bumper cars and sees Julie slamming into Chris over and over again, laughing and saying,
âI told you! I win!â
âGuys, we need your helpâ yells Oakley over the loud noise of crashing bumper cars. And with that, the four of them run back to help out.
Meanwhile, Amy notices a tall ladder nearby and asks if they can use it.
âGreat idea, Amyâ says Chris as he extends the ladder against the Ferris wheel to the three stranded NeLL friends. Cody quickly climbs up and rescues his Mom and friends.
âGood thing I had practice climbing ladders at campâ says Cody as he scampered up.
Now that the NeLL friends had re-grouped they notice ghosts and ghouls all around. David had his ghostbuster proton pack at the ready. and points it at a ghost. Realizing the damage David could do the ghost slowly begins to back away. David continues to step forwards and the ghost retreats.
âLooks like heâs afraid of Davidâ, says keifer
âOakley, you get your proton pack tooâ, says Julie. And the friends saw the same ghost response.
âOkay, Ghostbusters, chase all the ghosts back to the Haunted House and trap them in a roomâ , says Brandy. âWeâll follow behindâ
The group soon arrive at arrives at the Haunted House and enter quietly to do battle with the Vampires. Cody starts to Moonwalk with garlic (in MJ fashion), King Keifer brandishes his wooden sword, Alex has throws her lasso, Amy slings spider webs and Cara sweeps up the mess of beaten Vampires, out the door with her broom has her broom and they battle the Vampires away.
Meanwhile, the remaining ghostbuster team leads have corralled the ghosts into the Hall of Mirrors. Joel, doing his best Fonz, calmly leans on the light switch, turning on the lights. When the ghosts see themselves in the mirrors they scream in horror and leave through the walls and windows.
âWhy donât you go and scare H'Art Centre ya lousy buggersâ yelled Mitchel after them.
Just then a yellow school bus pulls up and out hops Amiee, Beatrix, Lauren and Aaron along with Val, Marie, Linda, Larry, Janine, Harmon and Miranda.
âWhatâs up everyone? sorry weâre lateâ, says Aimee
âYouâre never gonna believe what just happened to us tonightâ, says Amy.
