What a story 🙏
This female northern map turtle arrived at our hospital in June with not just one, but two separate injuries. After being struck by a vehicle, the finder noticed her fractured shell, along with a fish hook caught in her mouth. On top of all this, she was also gravid with 17 eggs!
She made her way to our hospital through our Turtle Taxi volunteer program, and our veterinary team successfully removed the fish hook and used orthopedic wire to secure her shell back in place. 26-664 has continued to receive care over the last few months and will be released back into the wild once she is fully recovered!
