I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how to make giving back feel real for my children.

So when I was asked to be an ambassador for AIM for SEVA’s Walk to Educate, I knew this was what I was looking for.

On May 31, we’ll be walking together at Erindale Park to help support education for children in rural India who don’t have safe access to school.

What stood out to me about this initiative is that 100% of funds raised go directly toward education.

If you’ve been looking for a meaningful way to involve your children in giving back, come join us!

You can find the link to register or support the initiative in my bio.

At any given moment, the nervous system is asking a single question:

Am I safe here?

We often think healing comes from treatment alone.

But beneath every treatment, something quieter is happening β€” the body deciding whether it can shift out of survival and into repair.

When the nervous system perceives threat, physiology organizes around protection.

When it perceives safety, the body becomes capable of healing in a different way.

This is not mindset.
It is biology.

And it raises a question we rarely ask in medicine:

What state is the body in when it receives care?

Because the conditions of care are not separate from treatment.

They are part of it.

There’s a lot of noise around coffee.
Some call it a health drink.
Others warn against it entirely.

When you look at the research across cancer, brain health, and cardiovascular outcomes, the answer is more nuanced:
Coffee is not considered a carcinogen, and some studies suggest lower risk of certain cancers, though more research is still needed.

A recent large study found that about 2–3 cups per day was associated with the lowest risk of dementia.

And more broadly, moderate intake has been linked with better heart health and overall longevity.

But more is not always better.

Coffee can disrupt sleep, increase anxiety, trigger palpitations, and worsen reflux.

For most adults, 2–3 cups per day appears to be the range where benefits are greatest.

But the right amount is still individual.

The healthiest dose is the one that supports your body β€”
not the one that overrides it.
