Anger is often seen as a negative emotion, but it can actually be a valuable tool for understanding ourselves and our limits.

When you feel angry, it's often because someone or something has crossed a boundary that you hold.

This could be a boundary around your
🌿values
🌿needs
🌿time
🌿physical space
🌿emotional space

Instead of trying to ❌suppress or ignore❌ your anger

You can use it as a signal to pay attention to where our boundaries are and what needs protecting ❗️

By doing so, you can start to communicate our needs more ✨clearly and assertively✨, and make choices that align with your values and well-being.

So next time you feel angry, don't just react impulsively - take a step back and ask yourself:
❓what boundary is being crossed here? ❓how can I honor and protect my own needs in this situation?

Every aircraft has to undergo regular maintenance checks to make sure all the instruments are working properly. One of those checks is Compass Recalibration.

You’d think that a compass always points North, and you’re right, it does. But compass can become a bit “off” over time with regards to its tableau.

It is not because the compass broke, but because Earth’s magnetic field slightly shifts over time.

As human beings it is vital to perform these checks too, to recalibrate ourselves to the moving parameters of the ✨external✨ environment of our lives.

If we don’t calibrate we usually end up moving in a different direction from our intention. The longer we go, the further off we move away from our authentic self, and the longer it takes to find our way back to the true north.

If you find yourself feeling “off”, remember:
🧭It is not because there is something wrong with you
🧭You’re not broken
🧭You are wise to notice that something isn’t working
🧭It’s time for realignment check

I have a powerful method that I do for myself at least once a year and most of my clients have experienced it at least once.

Virtually every new client in goal setting session at the beginning of ther therapeutic journey mentions that they want confidence.

Confidence is not something you find in the middle of a street on a bright sunny day or wake up to in the morning, or wish-think into your life

The root of confidence is in experience of life itself. Roughly 80% of people are risk averse, avoiding life experiences in the name of avoiding feeling defeat or “failure”

But if we learned to see defeat with equanimity, we’d stop avoiding it, thus stop avoiding life experiences, and start to build beliefs like “no matter what happens I’ll be ok”, “I can handle it”, “what’s in this for me?”

But how?
- taking small risks as experiments
- approach life’s events with curiousity
- avoid toxic positivity

“Heal yourself to heal others” sounds like a toxic, invalidating and dismissive message, as if indicating that you shouldn’t be in a caring profession until you’re “fully healed” (which is so arbitrary).

“Heal yourself AS you are holding space for other’s healing process.” That sounds better to me.

It is ok for us to be affected by our patients hardships and traumas, it’s a natural process of a therapeutic relationship, no matter what therapy you provide - medical, emotional, physical, spiritual - it doesn’t have to be grueling, debilitating or lead to burnout!

Use the triggers that come up for you as a guidance to where you must look within yourself - don’t numb it out, suppress, or escape it. Inquire into it.
