This past weekend, President Taz Lalani and Board Member Mark Lapowich attended the to promote BIAYR's upcoming Movie Night Fundraiser. They were joined by , the star of the that we will be screening on September 18. Jay delighted the crowd with a series of on-stage performances and was reunited with other jazz legends, including Jackie Richardson, pictured beside Mark in the first photo. The Brain Injury Association of York Region (BIAYR) invites you to a special fundraising screening of on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. at Cineplex Cinemas Markham. This critically acclaimed TVO documentary tells the powerful, untold story of the Jamaican music scene that thrived in Toronto from the 1960s to the 1990s. Centered around the life and career of reggae and soul legend Jay Douglas, the film captivated audiences at the 2024 Hot Docs Festival and the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, selling out both venues.
