Because a nervous system that’s been running on high alert for years doesn’t know how to just… sit. Stillness isn’t neutral for a dysregulated body — it can feel like danger. No task to perform, no fire to put out, so your mind starts manufacturing one. That’s not you being “bad at relaxing.” That’s biology.

Here’s the part nobody tells you: regulation is a skill, not a switch. You don’t flip it on. You practice it — one uncomfortable, fidgety, thought-spiraling minute at a time. The first time you sit still it might feel unbearable. The fiftieth time, it might feel like coming home.

A comeback isn’t about waiting until you feel ready. It’s about making the choice, jumping in with both feet, and building the support system around you so readiness isn’t the requirement.

You don’t need to have it figured out. You need to start before the season makes it harder to start.

If you’re ready to stop waiting — comment READY and I’ll send you the details on booking a lifestyle overview.

Trying to snag the luck of the Irish at first stop “ Dublin” but some of life requires discipline . Already squeezed in a quick workout and now for lunch and vino. Balance . Followed by a walk and nap - red eyes be like. Here I am making my dreams come true even when I didn’t believe it when I first planned this. Protip. Set goals , make a vision board and find a way. You may surprise yourself

Your nervous system doesn’t always know the difference between “I’m working hard” and “I’m in danger.” So it reacts the way it learned to react — even on a treadmill, even mid-squat, even years later.

This is why so many women in midlife try to “push through” a workout and end up in tears, or shaking, or wanting to bolt out of the room — and then feel embarrassed about it. You’re not broken. You’re not too sensitive. Your body is doing exactly what it was trained to do.

I tried on clothes and bikinis this week and felt good in every single one. Consistently. Maybe for the first time in my entire life.

Not “good for my age.” Not “good considering.” Just… good. In my actual body, right now.

And I had to sit with that for a second, because it snuck up on me.

Here’s what I’ve realized: we don’t grow up with an accurate picture of what a healthy body even looks like. We grow up with airbrushed, filtered, one-body-type-only lies — and then we spend decades measuring ourselves against something that was never real to begin with.

So “loving your body” was never actually the assignment. The real work was deprogramming — unlearning everything we were taught to believe about what “good enough” looks like, one layer at a time.

That’s the actual comeback. Not a smaller body. A quieter inner critic.

If you’re still waiting to feel good in your skin — the deprogramming has to come before the bikini, not after.
