The biggest thing I hear from women in this community (more than food guilt, more than body checking and mirror struggles…) is the fear of judgment.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fear of being seen.
Fear of body changes being noticed.
Fear of what people will think.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I made something for exactly that: a free 15-minute masterclass on breaking free from the fear of criticism and feeling more confident within yourself.

There’s a difference between wanting to look and feel good, and living under rules that are a nightmare to maintain.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Nutrition, beauty, self-care and workout routines can all be wonderful, healthy, and even enjoyable.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But when one slight change in your appearance sets your emotional balance off kilter, it’s a sign there’s something deeper going on. That maybe the strictness of these routines is rooted in fear. That maybe the threat of body changes points to an emotional insecurity.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s when we want to look a bit deeper and understand where the fear is coming from — and what emotions are hiding underneath the control.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But you can’t process emotions from panic mode. Regulation comes first.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Comment REGULATE and I’ll send you my free toolkit for calming a body shame spiral and coming back to your inner security.

My baby was struggling with a fever and not feeling like his usual self. He would cry if I put him down and was refusing his bottle.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I was overjoyed when he kept reaching for more cake as we celebrated his first year of life. The fact that he was smearing it all over me just made it even more hilarious.

I’m so glad the genuine joy and excitement on my face was captured. There’s a past version of me who would have seen these photos and felt ashamed for looking “too much.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Emotions are meant to be expressed. They communicate important information. I want my son to see how happy I am to be his mom, and I want the world to know it too.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I hate the idea of restricting our range of emotional expression just to prevent an inevitable aging process. I hope we can all look at our wrinkles and recognize them as symbols of the most precious moments in our lives, like this one. ❤️

A big part of healing your relationship with your body is learning to direct your frustration where it belongs.

Not at yourself.

At the culture that profits from making you feel like your face and body are projects to fix.

I’m not afraid of looking imperfect.

I’m more afraid of living in a world where we lose sight of what real people actually look like.

It was never about you.

I used to think my inner critic was loud because something was wrong with me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I kept trying to fix myself with a healthier diet, more exercise, more meditation, and positive thinking…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
From the outside, I looked like someone who “took care of herself.” But internally, I felt like my brain was a negative place to be in, and I couldn’t figure out why no matter how hard I worked on myself, I didn’t feel confident or secure.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The turning point was realizing I’d been living in survival mode.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The term “nervous system regulation” gets thrown around a lot these days, but what it actually means is expanding your window of tolerance. The amount of discomfort, uncertainty, or emotion you can hold before your brain sounds the alarm and sends you into fight, flight, or freeze.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When that window is small (which it often is for women who grew up around chronic dieting, body shame, or emotional unpredictability), your inner critic is just doing it’s job trying to keep you safe from a threat it learned to watch for a long time ago.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s when I stopped trying to silence the voice and started teaching my nervous system it was safe, because no amount of willpower or positive thinking can do that.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉🏼 That’s why I made the Body Shame Self-Regulation Guide: a simple in-the-moment tool to interrupt a shame spiral and feel more grounded in your body.

I predict the rise of “ugly.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With the rise of AI and its impact on already impossible beauty standards, I think we’re eventually going to get fed up with feeling tricked by what’s real and what’s not.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We’re already yearning for more authenticity... more realness.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Deep down, I think we all long for the relief of just being ourselves.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our imperfect selves.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Maybe the answer isn’t getting better at spotting fake images, but seeing more of what’s real: real faces, unfiltered skin, different body shapes, awkward angles, nature, and people.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our brains were never designed for this amount of self-viewing or digital comparison. It makes sense that, after enough exposure to polished perfection, ordinary human features start to feel unfamiliar.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But maybe “ordinary” is exactly what we need more of.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re stuck in a body shame spiral, it might be because your brain has been immersed in an environment it was never designed for.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💬 Comment REGULATE and I’ll send you my free interactive tool to help you interrupt the shame spiral and reconnect with your body from a place of safety.

Some things are hard to talk about. And it’s important to have hard conversations.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So let’s keep the discussion about alarming body trends less about shaming or blaming individual people, and more about the overarching impact on ourselves and the people we care about.

🌱 My biggest lesson: The more you learn, the less you know.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🎵 And the verse from Erykah’s song ‘Didn’t Cha Know’ that resonates with me most:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Time to save the world
Where in the world is all the time?
So many things I still don’t know
So many times I’ve changed my mind
Guess I was born to make mistakes
But I ain’t scared to take the weight
So when I stumble off the path
I know my heart will guide me back
❤️

I’d love to get to know you more too. Drop a ‘hi’ and tell me what brought you here? 💬
