Leisa Bellmore, Shiatsu Therapist

Leisa Bellmore, Shiatsu Therapist Client-centred Shiatsu Therapy tailored to suit the needs of each individual client.

I have been helping people to improve and maintain their health with Shiatsu Therapy since 2001. A firm belief that each of us has the ability and the responsibility to shape our health drives me to encourage clients to take an active role in their health and well being, teaching them self-shiatsu, stretching and other appropriate self-care. I am part of the integrative health team at the Artists'

Health Centre at Toronto Western Hospital where my specialized expertise helps performing and visual artists attain their health goals so that they can better create their art. I am also available for private individual treatments and for on-site services to businesses in the downtown area. I regularly present workshops to various audiences and have presented for the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada, the Artists' Health Centre Foundation, Toronto's Ronald McDonald House and the Alzheimer Society.

Yesterday was International Self-Care Day. The date (24/7) is significant. It indicates that self-care should happen all day, every day - whether it involves ensuring we eat well, exercise, practice mindfulness, find joy or sleep well. Here's a link to the training video and app for hand self-shiatsu, used in three of my research studies. It can aid sleep and is great for anyone who works with their hands. The lovely Belkys Reyes shared a memory from a self-care workshop I taught in Cuba on living well with stress in 2018 - my 3rd time lecturing in Spanish. What a wonderful experience! Best workshop location ever! Ideal for learning about stress management.
