Trish is one of the more than 4,400 ONA members working at nursing homes across the province who are negotiating a new collective agreement right now.

And on Thursday, June 4, she and her colleagues will turn up the pressure on CEOs and the FordNation Conservatives with information pickets across the province!

Hosted outside their workplaces, these pickets will raise public awareness about their fight, and demonstrate collective strength in support of their bargaining demands: wage parity with hospitals, improved benefits and safe working conditions.

To ensure health care for all, Ontario must stop health care privatization and implement mandatory safe staffing ratios. Across the province ONA members are collecting petitions to show growing support for this demand.

During Nursing Week, Ontario Green MPP Aislinn Clancy read more than 380 petitions into the Legislature, demanding that FordNation and Sylvia Jones introduce nurse-to-patient staffing ratios in all health-care settings.

MPPs from all of Ontario’s opposition parties are in support of this call for staffing ratios, and it’s time for the conservative government to take action on this issue!

Please like and reshare this post to help amplify this call!

Thank you Aislinn Clancy

Today a large contingent of ONA members, staff, and the Board of Directors joined Ontario Health Coalition for their MASSIVE rally and march on Queen's Park in Toronto! Over 5,000 health care allies from across Ontario descended on the city and shut down major downtown streets for the event.

Their demands of FordNation and Sylvia Jones were clear: stop privatizing Ontario's health care system, and increase investment in publicly-funded, publicly-delivered health care!!!

More than 16,000 health-care professionals across the country have already signed the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions parliamentary petition asking the federal government to give all nurses in Canada a tax break.

What an amazing start!

Their goal is to reach 20,000 signatures on the petition asking the House of Commons to amend the Income Tax Act to create a refundable federal tax credit for nurses. So if you haven't yet signed, now is the time!

Ontario Health atHome Members, it's time to tell us your priorities for your first collective agreement!

ONA is committed to a member-led, transparent bargaining process, and that process starts with the OHaH bargaining survey. This survey gives you the opportunity to shape what proposals are brought to the table as we plan for negotiations for a first collective agreement.

The survey is available in English and French, and members who participate will have the chance to win a prize! So complete your survey today:

Yesterday, more than 30 nurses at Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre flexed their power and unity with a sticker-up to demand fair wages from their employer ahead of a second day of conciliation!

Together, they secured a tentative agreement which they will vote on later this week. When workers unite in supermajority actions like this one, they send a clear message to the employer that they are serious about their demands and are committed to do whatever it takes to win.

Solidarity to the wonderful team at PQWCHC!

Today, we are heading to court to challenge the most recent provincial participating hospital arbitration decision that failed to address members’ top demand for safe nurse staffing ratios. In the fall, thousands of ONA members expressed outrage at this decision and voted overwhelmingly to challenge it through a judicial review, before a panel of judges. We will not back down in the fight for members' bargaining demands to be recognized.

Together with our separate constitutional challenge of the Hospital Labour Disputes Arbitration Act, we are fighting to restore our rights and build our power.
