9 Months ago today I was given the gift of a second life. And I owe it to everyone who has given me support, shared my story and fought beside me to be here today. Living a normal life again because of the generosity and love of others and the care of an amazing team at UHN.

Now there is another person who is in the same place I was months ago, and very much deserves a second chance at life. I ask that anyone who sees this, fight for her like you did for me and share her story. Get it out there so we can find this woman a donor.

Today is Six Months to the day of my transplant surgery.

Six months of living a somewhat normal life; with my family and loved ones.
Six months that I would not have been given if it weren't for the sacrifice of someone else.
Six months to be incredibly grateful for.

The good, the bad, the ups and downs. I'm so glad to be able to live through it all and thankful for the fact I am fortunate enough that everything is going so well.

I cannot describe how lucky I feel. I just want to thank all the incredible people who cared for me at my worst; for the Surgeon who's actions saved my life. And for the donor who is the truest definition of a hero.

Every day is a gift.

Thirty Three. To most people that number isn't particularly significant; but today it means the world to me, because just a few months ago I wasn't sure I would even live to see thirty three. Yet here I am, celebrating my birthday surrounded by loved ones. And for that I am so eternally grateful.

It's been over three months since my transplant surgery now and every day feels like a gift. I just want to take a moment to reflect on all I've experienced these past few months, the trials I have overcome to be here today and most importantly to say thank you to the people who have been there for me through it all.

To my fiance Amanda, who stood by me every single day so that I would never face this alone. To my family and friends who gave me all the love, encouragement and support. To the incredible medical team of doctors and nurses who worked tirelessly to care for me. And most of all, to the family of the donor who's loss gave me the life saving liver that granted me a second chance at life. No words can match how grateful and in debt to you I am. Nothing can replace what you lost but the gift and blessing it has given me will forever be cherished.

Thanks you all. And a Happy Valentines Day. May you all find love and happiness in those closest to you like I have.

As this year comes to an end I’m sitting with a heart full of gratitude. There was a moment not long ago when I wasn’t sure I would make it to see another New Year. Surviving a liver transplant has changed me in ways I’m still discovering and simply being here today feels like a miracle.

This year took everything I had, but it also gave me life, perspective, and a future I don’t take for granted for even a second. I’m so incredibly thankful to have made it through and to be able to look ahead to years I once wasn’t sure I’d have.

I also want to acknowledge the donor and their family. Because of their selfless gift, I am here. While I’m celebrating, I know this season must have been unimaginably difficult for them. Facing the holidays and the New Year without their loved one. I carry them with me every day and I honor their loss by living this life as fully and gratefully as I can.

As the New Year begins I move forward with humility, hope, and a deep appreciation for life. For second chances and for the people who made mine possible. 💚 Happy New Year!

After 4 long months at Toronto General Hospital, I’m finally home. There are no words big enough to express my gratitude.

Thank you to my surgeon, the entire transplant team, and every healthcare provider who cared for me along the way. To the incredible nurses in ICU and on the transplant ward (7A&B); your skill, compassion and constant presence carried me through the hardest days. I will never forget what you did for me.

To my donor and their family, thank you for the most selfless gift imaginable. Because of you, I was given another chance at life. 💚

Recovery continues with ongoing strengthening at home one day at a time. I’m so deeply grateful for the care, prayers, love, and support that carried me through to this moment.

Recovery update:

Feeling grateful for the progress these past few days. I’ve been up and walking; slowly getting my strength back. I've been celebrating every small win. The care team is happy with how things are going and there’s even a chance I could be home by the end of the week if everything stays on track.

One day at a time...so thankful for this second chance at life. Thanks for all the love and support along the way. 💚✨

We’re so happy to share some amazing news Dustyn is officially out of the ICU after almost 3 months!

He has been moved to the transplant ward and is doing really well so far in his recovery. His medical team is pleased with his progress, and every day he’s getting a little stronger. This is a huge step forward and we are incredibly grateful for all the support, prayers, and encouragement everyone has been sending.

Thank you to everyone who has been lifting him up. Please keep the positive thoughts coming as he continues healing.

Each moment brings progress and this marks such an important moment in his recovery. 💚

Good news! This morning Dustyn received an incredible gift of life, a successful liver transplant. After a long and difficult journey, his surgery went well. His new liver is working as hoped. We are beyond grateful to the amazing surgical and medical teams who made this possible, and to the donor and their family for giving such a selfless gift. This transplant marks a new beginning for Dustyn, and we’re filled with hope and gratitude for the days ahead. He is now on the road to recovery 💪
