I have always been pro-fasting! But what I need to emphasize is that NOT everyone should be jumping into this wonderful tool!

For some women and men, jumping into fasting before establishing metabolic flexibility can create more stress on the body rather than the benefits they’re looking for.

Before introducing a fasting routine, it’s important to consider the bigger picture:

✔️ How quickly do you enter ketosis?
✔️ What is your Body Composition?
✔️ How Much sunlight do you get daily?
✔️ When you are refeeding, are you getting enough nutrient-dense whole foods?

Fasting works best when the body has the metabolic flexibility to adapt. This can take many months to achieve,
• feeding → supports growth (mTOR activation)
• fasting → supports cellular repair and cleanup (autophagy)

Both phases are necessary rather than remaining in a constant calorie surplus or constant fasting.

Sustainable weight loss isn’t about chasing a number on the scale.

There is no one-size-fits-all timeline or guaranteed result because every person’s health, lifestyle, and starting point are different.

A more supportive approach looks at the bigger picture:

✨ The physical and health factors that may be influencing weight
✨ The psychological relationship with food, habits, and health goals
✨ Small, realistic lifestyle changes that can be maintained long-term

The goal isn’t to follow a plan forever. The goal is to build habits and a foundation that continue to support you even after your time together ends.

True progress comes from creating changes that fit into your life and can be sustained for years to come.

Everyone’s health journey is different. If you’re interested in exploring how naturopathic care can support your goals, book a consultation through the link in my bio.

Burnout doesn’t happen overnight.

Often, the signs start showing up long before you feel completely overwhelmed. Feeling “wired but tired,” struggling with restorative sleep, experiencing brain fog, or noticing changes in your mood can all be signals that your body is asking for support.

Don’t wait until your nervous system feels completely depleted. If you’re noticing that things aren’t settling and you don’t feel calm in your body, it may be time to reach out to your healthcare team for guidance and support.

Recognizing the signs early can help you take proactive steps toward better health and well-being.

The gut and brain are more connected than we often realize. 🧠🌿

Research continues to explore the gut-brain axis and how the microbiome may influence mood, stress response, and overall mental well-being.

When it comes to anxiety and depression, I believe it’s important to look at the bigger picture. Factors like gut health, nutrition, lifestyle habits, and underlying imbalances can all play a role in how we feel.

A root-cause approach focuses on understanding why symptoms are happening, rather than only addressing the symptoms themselves.

The more we learn about the gut-brain connection, the more we see just how interconnected the body truly is. ✨

Teachers, your naturopathic benefits may expire when the new school year starts. 🍎

If your extended health benefits reset in September, any unused coverage may not carry forward into the new benefit year.

A visit before the school year begins can be a great opportunity to check in on:

✔️ Energy levels heading into a demanding routine
✔️ Immune support for germ season
✔️ Sleep and stress as your schedule shifts

You give so much of yourself to the classroom each year. Before the bell rings, take some time to check in with yourself, too. 🤍

If you have benefits you’d like to use before September, book a visit or a free 15-minute consultation through the link in bio.

Waking up at 3 AM every night? Your body may be trying to tell you something.

Both Traditional Chinese Medicine and naturopathic medicine look at nighttime patterns as valuable insights into your overall health

🌿 TCM connects 1–3 AM with the liver system
🌿 Naturopathic medicine looks at cortisol patterns during this time

With a four-point salivary cortisol test, we can assess your cortisol pattern throughout the day and identify whether levels are too high before bed or rise too early at night.

Different approaches, but a shared message: prioritizing healthy sleep habits and supporting your body’s natural rhythms can make a difference.

Tracking your symptoms can be a simple way to better understand your health.

Whether you’re working on digestion, energy, sleep, PMS symptoms, or another health concern, keeping a record of how you’re feeling can help you spot patterns and track progress over time.

A few things you might consider tracking:
✔️ Energy levels
✔️ Sleep quality
✔️ Digestion and bowel movements
✔️ PMS symptoms
✔️ Cravings
✔️ Stress levels

That said, symptom tracking isn’t for everyone. If it tends to make you feel more anxious or hyper-aware, it may not be the right approach for you.

The goal is to use tracking as a tool to learn more about your body and what may be contributing to how you feel.

How do you prefer to track your symptoms? Let me know below. 💬

The wellness industry moves fast, but science takes time. 🔬

New trends, supplements, and health protocols can become popular long before we have enough research to understand how effective they are, who they may benefit, or what the potential risks might be.

Before trying something new, ask:
✔️ Is there human research, or only animal studies?
✔️ How many people have been studied, and for how long?
✔️ Who is making the claim, and what do they gain?
✔️ What does the broader research show?

New ideas aren’t always bad, but understanding the evidence helps you make informed decisions about your health.

If you’re unsure where to start, book your free 15-minute consultation through the link in bio to discuss your questions and explore what approach may be right for you.

When a child comes in with these symptoms, here’s where I start looking.

Eczema, seasonal allergies, and asthma are common concerns where I often look at factors like diet, gut health, and nutrient status for a better understanding of what may be contributing.

A few ways to support your child’s health include:

✔️ Focusing on a nutrient-dense, balanced diet
✔️ Encouraging a variety of whole foods, including fruits and vegetables
✔️ Prioritizing key nutrients like vitamin D and iron when needed
✔️ Supporting healthy sleep habits and daily movement
✔️ Working with a healthcare practitioner to identify potential dietary triggers or nutritional gaps

Every child is different, which is why understanding their symptoms, nutrition, and lifestyle habits can help guide a more personalized approach to care.

One of the simplest habits I often recommend for supporting your health is adding more movement into your day, especially if you spend a lot of time sitting.

Try setting a timer every 45 minutes and getting up to do 10 bodyweight squats.

A 2024 study found that these short movement breaks helped improve blood sugar regulation and reduced glucose spikes by 21%. In fact, this approach was shown to have greater benefits for blood sugar control compared to completing a single 30-minute walk.

If you’re sitting at a desk most of the day, feeling sluggish, or looking for simple ways to support your blood sugar balance, this is an easy strategy to incorporate into your routine.

Small, consistent changes can make a big difference.
