Last week, Type Diabeat It had the opportunity to do a recipe photoshoot with the ❤️

What started as a Zoom call with Delaney and team members from the Heart and Stroke Foundation about a year ago turned into a beautiful partnership rooted in creating culturally relevant recipes and content for African, Caribbean, and Black communities.

And one year later, here we were.

A huge thank you to Delaney for seeing the vision, staying connected, and making sure this happened. Your follow-through, encouragement, and care meant more than you know.

We also had the chance to work with extraordinary — and wow. The level of production was incredible. A chef, photographer, director, food styling, lighting, and details on details. This was Forbes magazine-level production.

Have you ever seen someone carefully brush olive oil onto an avocado?Because I have now!
But more than the production, what stayed with me was the feeling of being seen, valued, and validated. To have our recipes, our community, and our years of work treated with that level of care was deeply meaningful.

Grateful for partnerships that honour community and do the work with intention ❤️

Let’s be honest… sea moss can spoil fast, smell strong, and be hard to keep up with. That’s why at Granny P’s, we do sea moss differently. We got you 😎

A special thank you to the Fanshawe College Centre for Research & Innovation team — with appreciation to Ian Butcher and Renuka Waduge for supporting us through the program to strengthen our product’s shelf life and stability.

Thank you to Andrew Kaszowski for your support on this video, and to our incredible videographer Kumba Czerniak for capturing the story so beautifully.

From kitchen to manufacturing — this is just the beginning.

Black History Month at the new Humane Society 🖤✨

What a beautiful event — beautiful building, beautiful people, and yes… beautiful pets too 🐾

We had the opportunity to connect with so many potential Sea Moss fam. The conversations? Powerful. The education? Non-stop. I was on my feet the entire event — barely had time to sit and honestly didn’t even get many pictures or videos because we were BUSY (and I love that for us 🙌🏾).

There’s something special about building deeper connections right in your own backyard. Because the truth is… many people in our own city still don’t know Granny P’s exists. And events like this remind me why visibility matters.

The place was PACKED. Shoutout to the London Chamber of Commerce for organizing such a meaningful event — creating safe spaces, celebrating Black excellence, and honouring Black History in a way that felt intentional and welcoming.

There were live performances (so good!) — I just wish I captured more of it. Next time I’ll do better 😅

One thing I really appreciated — and this was actually a Chamber mandate — was that each booth hosted a raffle at the end of the event. Such a thoughtful way to spark engagement, encourage attendees to learn about each business, and create intentional connection across the room. Community building isn’t just about selling — it’s about sharing, educating, and creating opportunities to stay connected beyond the event.

Grateful. Tired. Inspired.
And ready for the next one 💛

Kicking off Black History Month in a different way — being interviewed by the one and only Saidat 🤎

I’m so honoured to be part of her series and to have the space to share my story… bonnet and all. No filter, no edits — just a young Black woman with a dream, building something from the ground up.

And listen… I’m not usually one to cry on camera 😅 but wow — Saidat really pulled it out of me. The conversation touched places I didn’t even expect.

I’ll be sharing highlights from the interview, but if you want to watch the full conversation, the link is in my bio on my YouTube page.

Thank you for holding space for stories like mine. ✨

Let me ask a real question—one not pulled from a pitch deck or a podcast.

What if “failure” in business has less to do with talent or effort, and more to do with access to capital?

Because once you’re inside CPG, you realize how pay-to-play it really is.

You pay to be seen.
You pay to belong.
You pay to sit in rooms where “brand equity” is being built.

$2,000+ tables just to give away samples you can’t sell.
Memberships to network… so you can network some more.
Product, travel, time, energy—all for “exposure.”

I chose to invest in testing, safety, compliance, and quality.
I believed doing things right mattered.

What I’ve learned?
Quality alone doesn’t move product.

There are quiet costs no one talks about—Shopify, ads, bank fees, Amazon.
And generational poverty isn’t just financial. It’s informational.
Learning the language of this industry in real time is expensive.

Barely making sales doesn’t mean the product isn’t good.
That narrative is a lie.

What’s often missing is access—to information, strategy, and capital.

So to the mompreneurs like me—big vision, bank account still catching up—it’s okay.

I’m still here.
30 stores. Goal: 100.
Slow. Steady. Intentional.

Not giving up.
Just telling the truth while I build.

So I’ll ask again:
How much of “success” in CPG is strategy—and how much is access to capital?
