Is it back-to-school for your kiddos? This is a stressful time for a lot of ADHD families!

Two of my clients have littles who are entering the school system for the first time, and one who is switching schools. ALL of them have received notes, texts, and/or calls from school.

Already.

But this doesn't have to be a crappy year just because it's off to a crappy start. There's SO much we can do to turn this around!

If hitting, spitting, pushing, yelling, name-calling and other disturbing behaviors are things that you're struggling with right now, we're talking about what to do about it over in the group this week!

It's free. Come join us! ADHD Alchemy - Natural Healing Options

This is a thing, isn't it?

It sure is for me!

And it makes it really hard for us to help our kids stick to a program that's going to benefit them at a foundational level.

That's why a group is SO important. Not to say "you're supposed to be HERE, doing THIS right now!"...

But to help you stay accountable to the long term goal while at the same time, saying...

I see you where you are...

I've been there, too!

And I know that we'll just circle back as many times as it takes for this to become our way of life.

Soul Alchemy starts in three weeks!! Are you in yet?

Ever walked away from a conversation thinking,
“I know what I meant... so why couldn’t I say it?”

That’s not weakness.
And it’s not because you were “too emotional.”
It’s because your brain wasn’t cooperating.

When you have ADHD, especially the kind most women do, conflict can hit like a shutdown.

Verbal debate puts pressure on working memory (and that’s already shaky ground, am I right?).

We can’t retrieve facts easily under stress.
We lose the thread.
We struggle to organize our thoughts in real time.

And then the other person keeps going.
They sound clear.
They sound reasonable and confident.

They don't lose their train of thought or over trip over their words so it feels like they’re right, even when we know they’re not.

Meanwhile, we're over talking louder and saying the same sentence three times because words are muddled in our brains like packing tape when the edge gets folded over and now it's stuck to itself...

Eventually, we stop trusting ourselves.

We start avoiding the conversation.

We let things slide because we can grasp our logic about as well as a live trout in a bucket of olive oil.

This is what it looks like when your nervous system and your executive functioning both get hijacked at once.

It’s a CAPACITY issue.

There are lots of reasons for this, but if you resonate and you want to join in on the conversation (and SO many more like it!) come hang out with us here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/adhdalchemyvip

I think about this a lot.

Because as an undiagnosed ADHD child, self-belief didn’t come easily. Especially when we’re constantly being told to sit still, pay attention, stop interrupting, try harder, be less.

It’s hard for parents to believe, too. Nothing seems to be working, and every day feels like a series of fires to put out.

That’s why the foundation of ADHD Alchemy isn’t behavior plans or sticker charts. It’s safety. And regulation. And helping parents remember who their child really is beyond the outbursts, the lost water bottles, and the never ending relentlessness.

When we shift the environment, support the nervous system, and rebalance the chemistry, kids start to respond differently. But even before that… they start to feel seen. And that’s the piece that matters most.

Because the voice they develop inside (the one that tells them they’re capable, worthy, and not broken) usually starts as our voice first.

When you’re able to hold that belief for them, even on the hard days, it changes who they become.

What helps you hold onto that belief when things feel messy? I’d love to hear what keeps you grounded.

“It happened so fast.”

One minute everything’s fine—your kid’s playing, talking, doing totally okay. And then? Boom. Meltdown.
Tears, yelling, hiding, maybe even hitting. And you’re standing there thinking, what just happened?

Here’s what I want you to know: this isn’t attention-seeking. It’s not manipulative.
It’s not even “behavior” in the way most people think about it.
This is a hijack.

For a lot of our ADHD kids, there’s no slow build-up. No visible escalation.
Their brain doesn’t ramp up—it flips.
The thinking brain (prefrontal cortex) goes offline.
The emotional brain (amygdala) takes over.
The body floods with stress chemicals.
And just like that, the whole system short-circuits.

What makes it harder?
Most of these kids are already living in a state of high alert.
Bracing for the next demand. The next “no.” The next noise or texture or unexpected change.
So when something tips them over the edge?
They don’t regulate.
They dysregulate.
Fast. Loud. Full-body.

That’s why “just calm down” doesn’t work.
Not because they won’t.
But because in that moment, they can’t.

The real work happens way before the explosion.
We lay the foundation by building safety, reinforcing co-regulation, and giving the nervous system what it actually needs to stop living in a war zone.

If this feels familiar… you’re not the only one.
And your kid is not broken.
They’re overloaded. Their brain is doing its best with the tools it has.

Want to share?
What’s something you’ve noticed right before your child flips into meltdown mode?
Drop it below—I’d love to hear.

“Why do so many girls with ADHD go undiagnosed?” 😔
Because it doesn’t always look the way we expect.

ADHD in boys often shows up as hyperactivity and impulsivity—loud, physical, hard to miss.
But in girls? It’s more often quiet, emotional, and invisible.

📌 Girls are more likely to:

Daydream or zone out

People-please to hide struggles

Be labeled “sensitive,” “lazy,” or “emotional” instead of being evaluated

And the result?
They suffer in silence. They blame themselves. And they often don’t get diagnosed until adulthood.

Let’s change that. ✨

If you don’t "shut that down" in public...

If you let them have a moment in the grocery store without swooping in with a consequence...

If you don’t give your kid a stern talking-to every time they get loud, impulsive, emotional, or “disrespectful”...

You know what people might think?

That you're too soft.

That your kid is “out of control.”

That you’re not doing your job.

But here’s the thing:

They’re wrong.

But more than that...

Who cares what "they" think?

Because you’re not raising a Stepford child.

You’re raising a human.

A complex, sensitive, out-of-the-box, nervous-system-on-fire kind of human.

And in your world (the one you actually live in) harsh discipline doesn’t fix the problem.

It just fuels the shame,
That ignites the brain chemicals,
That cranks up the nervous system...

It lights the match in an already-overloaded brain.
What looks like “weak parenting” to a stranger is often the strongest, most grounded thing you can do:

Staying calm.
Staying connected.
Refusing to add gasoline to the fire just to make it look like you’re in control to random onlookers and that great-aunt you see once a year.

You’re not here to perform for everyone else.

You’re here to guide your child through a world that often misunderstands them.

And yes!
You’re allowed to do that with gentleness.
You’re allowed to do it imperfectly.
You’re allowed to do it in ways that make sense to you and to them.

Because this child you’re raising....
Does NOT fit a mold.

And that’s not a flaw,

That’s a gift.

They will do incredible things one day!

But only if we help them get there without crushing their spirit in the meantime.

So please stop bashing yourself for being “too soft.”

You know that's not who you are!

You’re consciously parenting a child who needs a different roadmap.

And yes... you can ABSOLUTELY do this. ❤

I started working with someone yesterday who is helping me with Facebook ads and all the things I don't have capacity to do by myself anymore more, and she asked me some hard questions! One of them was:

What makes ADHD Alchemy different? What makes THIS program one-of-a-kind?

I really had to think about that, not because I questioned whether or not it was different and uniquely transformative (because it absolutely is!), but because I was having a hard time putting into words how special and transformative it is.

🔬 It goes deeper than behavior—and even deeper than parenting strategies.
Most ADHD advice stops at surface-level fixes: rewards, charts, gentle discipline, or endless parenting “tools.” ADHD Alchemy starts where those fail: at the root of what’s really going on. That includes nervous system state, neurotransmitter patterns, genetic bottlenecks, and unhealed belief systems both in the child and the parent.
🧠 It bridges biology and psychology in a way no other parent program does.
We don’t just talk about emotional regulation or executive function in theory. We teach parents how to support the actual chemistry behind those struggles. That means testing (not guessing!) what’s happening with dopamine, serotonin, and other pathways. It means identifying sensory and vagal patterns that prevent their child from accessing calm or connection, no matter how skilled you are as a parent.
💡 It reframes ADHD from “disorder” to misunderstood wiring.
This isn’t a deficit model. ADHD Alchemy teaches parents to see their child’s behaviors as messages from an overloaded system, not signs of brokenness. We help them decode what the body is trying to say, and show them exactly how to respond in ways that build trust, safety, and internal regulation.
🧬 It’s science-backed and emotionally safe.
Most programs give you either cold data or overly emotional fluff. This is neither. ADHD Alchemy is grounded in functional testing, neurochemistry, and polyvagal theory, while also teaching parents how to rewire the false beliefs they’ve carried since childhood. We give parents the biological clarity they’ve been missing and the emotional tools to stop spiraling in shame.
🌱 It heals the parent-child system from the inside out.
Because this work addresses the full picture; nervous system, neurotransmitters, subconscious scripts, sensory integration, and biology; it doesn’t just improve behavior. It creates actual repair. This means real change! A child who feels safe enough to regulate, and a parent who finally understands what their child needs.
And a home that no longer runs on chaos and exhaustion.

In the end, the big thing that we do here is: peace.

An end to chaos.

And it's not because we give you systems to stay on top of every single day, constantly "managing" and "coping".

But healing the root causes means there's not so much to "manage" anymore.

I'm so glad I got asked that question. I hope it helps you to understand it, too.

You probably guessed this already, but…

Yeah, we’re unschoolers.

Because after trying to cram a round peg into a very rigid square hole, we realized the hole was the problem, not the peg.

Because no one thrives when they spend eight hours a day being told to sit still, stop talking, stop fidgeting, focus harder, and stop being exactly who they are.

Ask me how I know.

Because I was that kid.

The one who learned how to mask, please, shrink, and pretend to be “normal” while my nervous system was on fire and no one noticed.

I didn’t need more structure.
I didn’t need more discipline.
I didn’t need a sticker chart or a teacher with a louder voice.

I needed space.
I needed flexibility.
I needed someone to say,
“Wow, your brain works FAST. Let’s follow it.”

So now, this is our life.
This is what we do.

We learn in the kitchen.
We learn in the woods.
We learn in our pajamas while building a cardboard city that accidentally teaches engineering, economics, and emotional regulation (like when the dog eats the all smokestacks on the Lego Titanic and someone cries).

We learn at weird times, in weird ways,
and with snacks.
SO. many. f^@&ing. snacks.

And you know what?
It works.

Because ADHD kids don’t need more control.

They need more understanding.

More curiosity.

More permission to follow their spark instead of being crushed under a system that was never built for them.

Most people hear “unschooling” and assume that we stick our fingers in our ears when someone mentions learning,
But we’re not anti-learning.
We love learning around here!

We just do it differently.

With intention.

With nervous system safety.
With interest, and real-world challenges, and deep ingenuity.
With joy.

And yeah, some days it’s motherflipping chaos.
But it’s our chaos.

And at the end of the day, they know they’re safe.
They know they’re not broken.

And that’s everything I never had...

so I’m making damn sure they do.
If this hits... we’re probably your people.
