Lough Swilly Beaches ❤️
Spending two months in my home land after 7 months of traveling, I have a new found love and gratitude for this place; Donegal. My perspective has changed, from the deprived county that got rid of all their trains, to the best kept secret in the country. 😉
From my travels i learned that the beach for me feels like home, and no wonder as the beaches in Donegal, particularly around Lough Swilly are beautiful. 🙌
We might not always get the weather but thats what creates the beauty. If you've not been to the Inishowen peninsula, I encourage you to visit, follow the Wild Atlantic Way to this amazing place. 🌊
Our beaches are so precious, our beaches are attracting people from far and wide, finally putting this forgotten county back on the map, but yet our council allows untreated sewage to be pumped into these waters. We once had blue flags for the purity of our water and now instead we see intermittent signs warning people not to swim due to the poor water quality.
This breaks my heart 10 fold. 😢
I know the Mica issue is the main concern right now 💔, but if there is any action no matter how small we can take to keep holding accountable and urge them to at least upgrade the sewage systems to save our waters and the life within it, then we should do it. 🙏
