Laura, whats up with dairy?: a brief history 🥛
Guys, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with dairy since I was a 👶. It manifested as eczema when I was younger, and contributed to cystic acne as an adult (This girl can’t f*ck around with hot chocolates or chocolate bars, I pay for it BIG time)
But tbh for most of my life, I really wanted to believe I was like everyone else and eat it too. Basically...I had a dairy double life! But over the past year, I’ve REALLY been more conscious to limit my dairy. A few things that helped me stay committed:
- The dairy industry: Being more aware of how the animals are treated, and that dairy has little to none health benefits (there are SO many other sources of calcium that are actually good for you to consume). I am not yet 100% plant based, but our $$$ is essentially our vote. A quick google search (or material on ’s page) can quickly show you the very dark side of the this industry.
- Eczema: I had an outbreak last year that and had to eliminate the highest inflammatory foods from my diet: wheat and dairy
- Ladies: After seriously committing to eliminating it from my diet, I noticed a huge improvement in my PMS symptoms and my 🔴.
Over 70% of the population is lactose intolerant = the inability to digest the main carbohydrate in dairy.
Next time you consume it (or even try not consuming it for 1-2 days, and eat it again), tune into your body: do you experience bloating, tiredness, indigestion or abdominal cramps after eating? It might be signs of an intolerance. Not ready to let dairy go yet, and maybe you actually LOVE it? No judgement zone here. Everybody is on their own journey, do what feels best for YOU and your body❤️
