There's a new NOB on the block. Congratulations to Blanche Macdonald Makeup graduate Helen Dao who is now repped by one of Vancouver's strongest creative teams, NOBASURA!!! NOBASURA's founder/Creative Director is none other than our very own superstar Makeup instructor/graduate Jon Hennessey.

"Jon Hennessey was my instructor for the 'Makeup for Print and Runway' module at Blanche Macdonald Centre and he's often mentioned that he had always recognized my potential for success in the industry. His work has always been a source of inspiration for me. After graduating, he would regularly send me out on projects which I would manage while growing the Glamstar Beauty & Nails business. After introducing me to his partner Anna Bonthoux, who’s also been very supportive, we started to book things through the agency by 'special arrangement'. Within the past year, Anna has sent me out for editorial jobs with Chatelaine, Vancouver View Magazine and also to key Metropolis’ Fall Fashion Show. I also continued to assist Jon on Metropolis’ billboard campaigns and we started to build some professional momentum. Since our relationship has grown together, we have been working hard on building my portfolio to reflect the type of work that I love to do. Jon has been so kind mentoring me on set and guiding me in the right direction. I’ve been working on a series of Creatives with NOBASURA Artists Kyla Hemmelgarn, Shiva Shabani, Kerry Weinrauch, Tania Becker and the Radkids. Just recently, Jon and Anna told me that they'd like to work with me in a more official capacity and welcomed me to be a part of the team. I still remember him talking about starting the agency when I was in his class so now I’m more excited than ever. I’m looking forward to creating more beautiful work with NOBASURA!" - Helen Dao
