ONIN is the Ontario Naturopathic Integrative Network.

We are a referral and education service dedicated to ensuring Ontario ND's patients have access to comprehensive integrative care including advanced assessments, innovative therapies and delegation.

Most NDs in Ontario have patients who need a prescription, a lab order, or a delegated procedure — and no reliable collaborator to make that happen.

Scope regulation is slow to change. Patient care can't wait for it.

In this short clip I talk about recent changes in the delegation standard for NPs with the CNO and new guidance on delegation for NDs from CONO.

The referral goes out. The patient is seen. And then... For many NDs, that is where the
communication loop ends — not by choice, but because there is no clear process for what comes next. Closing the loop matters: → You need to know what the receiving provider found and recommended → The patient needs to know you are still their primary ND contact → Your records need to reflect the full picture of their care → CoNO expects evidence of communication in collaborative cases ONIN's resources include templates for follow-up communication — what to send, when, and how to document what comes back. Ontario ND scope of practice: *has primary care authority* Ontario ND prescribing list: we have a nice list of things Ontario ND, standing in the gap: I can diagnose this. I can manage this. ✔ Patient name, DOB, and reason for contact
✔ Brief clinical summary — what you& #39;ve
found and what you've found and what you're managing
✔ Specific question or action you're requesting
✔ What you are continuing to manage
✔ Relevant investigations already completed
✔ Patient's awareness and consent to this communication
✔ How you would like communication back

This is not a full referral letter. It is a structured clinical handshake — specific enough to be useful, concise enough to be read.
