It has been a long and hard year for myself and the family but we are now through the woods so to speak. I wanted to take a moment to bring awareness to the importance of knowing the signs of cancer and doing something about it. It may mean the difference between life and death… it certainly was for me! I will live to tell the tail about this one. Never be too busy to notice the signs that your body gives you that something isn’t right. For me, I found a lump in my breast, it was no larger than a grain of rice. Little but mighty, it would have killed me if I didn’t get it checked out. Once I identified the need to see the doctor, it still took too long to get evaluation. I didn’t know I could self refer to a mammogram clinic and cut the wait time to ask a GP for a referral. I didn’t think I needed to go for regular checks at my age, but it can be done and you don’t need anyone’s permission. Just book it! I want to give a special thank you to to helping me through my journey of diagnosis, treatment and recovery.

The latest experiment is testing homemade willow water! The theory is that it contains hormones to promote root growth. So far, I’d say it works!

I completed my diploma in Restoration of Natural Systems last week! Finally! I may start making more of my cosmetics in the coming months after this long hiatus. I am still working on my undergraduate degree, but I really do miss making cosmetics

I spent my earth day with my son and we placed the little butterfly fence at my garden in mystic vale.

Tomorrow is the big planting day! I am planting red flowering currant, but this mature plant is outside the Petch building at the University of Victoria.

Here are some more shots of the garden in progress. Although there is camas being planted, these beautiful camas flowers were by the library on campus. Hopefully mine will bloom next year
