UVic Buddhist Chaplain Learn to meditate at the Tuesday Evening Zen Meditation: 6:45pm Tuesdays at the UVic Chapel Eshu.

Almost every Tuesday evening throughout the year there's a free program
designed to teach meditation and give an experience of Zen Buddhism. It runs from 7 to 9pm, and includes an hour
of sitting & walking meditation, chanting, and a talk by the abbot of Zenwest, Venerable Kosen Eshu Martin, Osho. After the formal part of the evening there's a tea circle and a chance to
ask questions of V. Come 15

minutes early your first time, for a brief orientation, and come
back as often as you like. Wear comfortable clothing (no hats, gloves or shoes in the meditation room please). The location is the UVic Interfaith Chapel, by Finnerty Gardens & parking
lot #6.

Michael Stone’s death reminds me how even with tremendous internal and external resources, including years of practice and strong community and family support, nobody is immune from the impacts when pain becomes unbearable and relief is needed.

How do we foster a culture of caring that allows us to ask for help when needed?

I find zen meditation deeply nourishing.

Mindfulness. The starting point of Zen meditation practice. Becoming aware that we are very rarely actually present in the moments of our lives makes a difference to it.
