I found this a really good video to give you info about the GLP-1 weight-loss drugs. Still no definite timeline on when the generic versions will be available. If you are thinking of starting one once they are more reasonably priced, make sure you talk with your family doctor. Come ask the pharmacists at IDA your questions too :)

Music Monday! RF Staples Thunderbirds Band program are presenting their skills tonight at 6:30. They are fundraising for new instruments as well as programming for the students. All donations welcome!! Pidsadowski’s IDA Pharmacy just donated enough to help buy two tenor saxophones. Spring Covid boosters will be available at pharmacies starting April 7!! Thank you everyone who told the government you want to get your immunization at your pharmacy! There are certain groups we can give a spring shot to: all those 80 or older, all residents at long term care homes or seniors lodges, all those who are moderately-severely immunocompromised, and those 65-79 years old with underlying medical conditions. We will have limited supply as they are only releasing 10doses per pharmacy per week, so please have patience with us. Public health will also be giving immunizations for spring covid too.

Pharmacists across Alberta are an amazing resource and are frontline Health Care Providers for all Albertans. The Alberta government has cut funding to community pharmacies, raised prescription medication costs for seniors, and are changing access to Covid shots including charging people for them. Please check out this website and sign a petition showing public support for protecting pharmacist provided care.

Pharmacists have been publicly praised as critical providers in Alberta’s healthcare system. Yet the government’s program restrictions and cost containment strategies undermine pharmacists ability to provide care, threatening patient care and well being.
