Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Wainwright, Alberta, and everyone affected by the devastating explosion and ensuing fire.

From all of us at Whitewood Fire Rescue, we extend our heartfelt support to the community during this difficult time.

We are also thinking of the firefighters, paramedics, police officers and all emergency personnel responding to this incident. As fellow first responders, we know the challenges and dangers that come with answering the call when a community needs help.

To our brothers and sisters on the front lines, stay safe and know that your fellow emergency responders stand with you.

When charging on a plane, keep portable charging devices on the tray table. Do not charge devices in overhead compartments and never charge e-cigarettes or vapes on a plane. If a battery overheats or fails, it is important for the flight crew to be able to respond quickly.

Stop using your device right away if the battery smells strange, is warm to the touch, makes popping noises, changes in shape or color, or if you see smoke. If it is safe, move the device away from anything that can catch fire. A damaged battery can overheat and start a fire.
