One of the sweetest privileges of working in healthcare is the kindness patients show in so many different ways. ❤️
When I was a Family Doctor back in Brazil, it was very common for patients to bring me little gifts as a way of saying thank you—jewelry, perfume, soaps, scarves, clothes, wine, and occasionally something they had baked themselves.
But here in Winnipeg, I have discovered a different tradition that has become one of my favourites. 🌱🥒🍅
When summertime arrives, patients sometimes come to the clinic proudly carrying something from their own gardens—the products of their harvest! And I have to admit, I absolutely love it. There is something so special about seeing how proud they are to share what they grew themselves.
I never expected this to become such a familiar part of practicing in Manitoba, but perhaps that is one of the privileges of living on the Prairies and experiencing Friendly Manitoba. 💚
These little gestures are never expected, but they are always deeply appreciated. They are simply another way patients express their kindness and appreciation for the work I do.
Today I am feeling very grateful—for the harvest, but especially for the people behind it. 🌻🙏
