We’ve all had that moment. You say something in a meeting or presentation, and as the words leave your mouth, you realize something's off. Maybe it was a fact that wasn’t quite right. Maybe you fumbled your phrasing. Maybe you misread the room entirely.

The question isn’t whether mistakes happen—they do. The real question is: What do you do next?

Making a misstep means you’re speaking up. You’re trying. You’re not stuck in silence or perfectionism. That alone is worth celebrating.

Here's an old joke...

Four frogs are sitting on a log. One decides to jump off.
How many frogs are left?
Four.

Because deciding isn't action.

We often mistake intention for progress:
"I'm going to start the business."
"I'm going to have that conversation."
"I'm going to prioritize my health."

Real transformation begins with the first step.

💬 What's one decision you've made that's waiting for action? Take that first step today.

Have you ever sat through a presentation filled with charts, bullet points, and statistics—only to forget almost all of it a few minutes later?

Now think about the last story that made you laugh, think, or see something differently.
You probably still remember it.
In my latest blog, I explore why stories, idioms, and memorable examples create "sticky content" that helps audiences remember your message long after the presentation ends.

From "It costs an arm and a leg" to "Don't throw the baby out with the bath water," there's a reason these stories have survived for generations.

👉 Read the blog and discover how to make your presentations unforgettable.

I often get asked about the most unusual coaching advice I’ve ever given, and I love the answer.

A brilliant client of mine, an expert in her field, was always stiff when presenting.
So I told her to take belly dancing lessons.

She did.
And when she came back? Total transformation.

Relaxed. Fluid. Fully present.

Because here’s the truth:
Communication isn’t only your words—it’s your whole body.

🧭 Are you communicating fully (think Shakira), or are you just speaking?

What’s one way you could become more present in your body when you communicate? Share it below—I’d love to hear.

There’s a moment in every seeker’s journey—maybe even a dozen of them—where the question creeps in: “Why do I still need so much input?”

Why am I still reading, still attending, still consuming… still trying to fix something?

Here’s the honest (and slightly uncomfortable) truth: you’re always going to crave input. You’re always going to be curious, reaching for the next insight, the next tool, the next piece of clarity.

These shifts won’t eliminate the inner critic or the ache to keep growing. And they will soften your grip on the belief that you’re behind. They’ll anchor you in the truth that you don’t need to “do more” to be enough. You already are. You’ve got a toolkit most people would kill for—made up of your life, your work, your stories, your scars.

And yes, you’ll keep learning because that’s your nature. Not because you’re chasing worthiness. Because you’re nurturing mastery.

Stop wringing the rag. You’ve already squeezed the lesson out. Now it’s time to offer it to others.

Think you’ve got agreement? Think again.

That nod in the meeting?
That “yep” in passing?
It doesn’t always mean you’re aligned.

Too often, we’re building plans on assumed agreement—not actual clarity. And that’s a setup for confusion, rework, and dropped balls.

Good communication means checking in:
→ “Here’s what I heard—are we aligned?”
→ “Have we agreed on the outcomes, actions, and timelines?”

This matters with clients—and even more with your team.

Don’t simply move fast. Move together.
Clarity is what creates real momentum.

💬 Before your next kickoff, ask:
Are we truly in agreement? Where might we be making assumptions?

That’s how you move with confidence—not chaos.

📌 Drop a 👂 in the comments if you’ve seen a project derail because of assumptions. Let’s raise the standard on alignment.

There’s a certain kind of conversation most of us have learned to brace for.

You see the message come in. Or you’re sitting across the table (hello Thanksgiving), and the topic takes a turn you didn’t ask for—and yet somehow expected. You can almost script the next five minutes in your head.

And if you’re honest, you’re not preparing to understand. You’re preparing to respond.

Having tough, high-stakes conversations isn’t a soft skill. It’s a practiced one.

It’s also one of the core modules inside our upcoming Digital Encore Communication Coaching Program—where we walk through how to stay grounded, communicate with intention, and navigate disagreement without losing the relationship.

Leaders, here’s your power move: stop answering.
Start asking.

When we rush to give answers, we create dependence. And when we ask thoughtful questions, we build capability.
Asking good questions slows things down - and that’s the point. It gives your team the space to think critically, take ownership, and build real confidence.

🧠 The best leaders don’t simply solve problems. They grow people who can solve problems without them.

Here’s your reflection for today:
When your team presents you with a problem, what’s one question you could ask - instead of quickly jumping in with the answer?

📌 Comment below with a question you’ll lead with today, or tag someone whose questions challenge you to grow.

Let’s lead better, together.

My team member Shannon and I had an incredible time at CoachCon this year. What an excellent opportunity for us to learn and grow the business together. And the party was fun too 😉

CoachCon 2026 was a powerful reminder of what happens when ambitious entrepreneurs come together to learn, grow, and share experiences.

I’m grateful for the insights, conversations, and relationships that continue to make this community extraordinary.

You don’t need eight decades under your belt to put them into practice. In fact, the earlier you start, the better the compounding effect. And if you’re already in your 60s, 70s—or beyond—it’s never too late to add a little more adventure, curiosity, and purpose into the mix.

Because the real lesson here isn’t about age at all. It’s about living like time matters—starting today.

If you had to add an eleventh lesson, what would it be? I’d love to hear yours.
