Two years ago today, I was devastated.

After four years of study and a full year of research and development, I realized I had been moving in the wrong direction. My experiments weren’t producing the results I had hoped for, my brand identity no longer felt right, and the business plan I had built needed to be dismantled.

I couldn’t see a way forward. I could only see the long, clouded road behind me.

I was tempted to despair, but instead, I prayed. I waited for God to show up in a very big way.

And He did.

The new direction, the partners who came alongside me, and the business that emerged from that season were better than I could have imagined.

Today, exactly two years later, I find myself presenting my complete premium skincare line to the spa manager of a five-star hotel. 🥹

Two years ago, I couldn’t see the path ahead. Today, I am standing in a moment I once could not even have imagined.

I am deeply humbled. Deeply grateful.

Award-recognized vitamin C, reimagined in oil.

ʻIli Nani Vitamin C Oil Serum was named a finalist for Best Vitamin C Serum at the 2026 Beauty Shortlist Awards.

This independent recognition is especially meaningful to me because it shows that an effective vitamin C serum does not have to be watery.

ʻIli Nani contains L-ascorbic acid, the active form of vitamin C, encapsulated within cornflower stem cells to help protect its stability and support its delivery to the skin.

Its waterless oil base also allows us to formulate without the very low-pH environment commonly required by conventional water-based L-ascorbic acid serums, which some sensitive skins can find uncomfortable.

Ten years ago, I couldn’t see this version of my life.

I was a mother of two toddlers, living in a foreign country and suffering from extreme burnout. I remember wondering how I would ever support myself and my children if something happened to my husband.

I didn’t have a clear plan. I only knew that I wanted to build something of my own.

What followed wasn’t one dramatic leap. It was years of studying, formulating, experimenting, persevering—and taking the next small step even when I couldn’t yet see where it would lead.

Last week, that journey brought me high into the Swiss Alps for the Permcos Supplier Seminar: learning about innovative cosmetic ingredients and creating an organic skin-longevity cream alongside experienced formulators and cosmetic scientists.

Three months after launching Noelani Skincare, moments like this still feel surreal.

I’m sharing this because beginnings rarely reveal what they are becoming. If you’re in a season of uncertainty, not knowing the way forward does not mean there is no way forward.

Keep taking the next small step. You may be building a life you cannot yet imagine. 🌺
