At first, I wasn’t sure whether I should continue with this line drawing or lean more into what I saw in it (see the second slide). Because what I saw was a very, very pregnant woman, and it got me thinking...
In the end, I decided to go with the creative flow of what appeared, because I want to celebrate the miracles a woman’s body is capable of. The joy and marvel of new life created. 🤍 I want to celebrate the circle of life and death, and the profound act of giving birth, and the strongest, bravest, most empowered women behind it!
I want to dedicate this to all the pregnant women who are growing a tiny soul within them. To offer courage, inspiration, and light whenever they need it on this incredible, challenging journey of becoming a mother. I am so in awe of you all 🤍
And I want to share that making this illustration also made me think of all the women with different stories and journeys, and especially in a place like IG, I think it’s important to hold space for all of them and to be sensitive about this kind of content.
So I also want to send love to every woman who is desperately trying to conceive and is facing infertility. To every woman who has lost a child, born or unborn, no matter how far along. To the women whose pregnancies are the result of abuse or violence. To the women who choose not to have children, and to those who have made the difficult decision to end a pregnancy. To the woman who's afraid or desperate. To the woman who regrets. And to the women whose path through life has simply unfolded differently than they once imagined.
I see you and I honor you so much in your process. 🙏🏻🤍
