So many people ask me about how to get rid of their sugar cravings/sugar addiction. Others ask me about how to get their blood sugar levels back down to healthy levels because they are getting close to that danger zone of insulin resistance, prediabetes or Type 2 Diabetes. Both of these problems are very closely linked because unstable blood sugar keeps us craving and increases our risk of getting diabetes. It also keeps stubborn weight hanging on...

What I see many people doing is eating the wrong things at the wrong times without understanding what is going on in their bodies, or worse, going from one fad diet to the next trying to get their cravings, weight and blood sugar under control. And that is just backwards.

So I’m thinking of creating a series of videos for free, where I’ll be wearing a continuous glucose monitor, that would help anyone struggling with sugar cravings or high blood sugar see the effect of the food they are eating. For it to be most useful, I would like to use suggestions from you.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: fiber first! Sure there’s some fiber in bread - but not white bread. That sandwich is going to make your blood sugar spike hard and fast! If you really want the sandwich, have the sandwich. But eat the veg first! The fiber in the veg is going to slow the absorption of sugar and starch into your system. It won’t stop your blood sugar levels from rising but it will tame a spike somewhat. Because when you spike, you crash shortly after. Leaving you hungry, tired, irritable and craving more sugar. One glass of orange juice = the sugar from about 3 oranges 🍊🍊🍊

When fruit is juiced the fiber is removed - a whole lot of sugar with no brakes! 😮

Because liquid sugar hits your bloodstream faster and spikes your blood sugar higher.

Most of us wouldn’t sit down and eat 3 oranges at once. So eat your fruit, don't drink it. Your cravings and your blood sugar levels will thank you!

Lots of us don’t get enough protein. 🥩🍗🍳🫘🍤 If you struggle with sugar cravings (or are trying to cut back on your sugar consumption and not having much luck) you really do want to make sure you’re eating enough of it! Lots of people get stuck on snacks, especially if they are on the go. Here’s a handy little cheat sheet to give you some ideas. Remember if buying from the store to always look out for hidden sugars. Also, the shorter the ingredients list the better. If you don’t know what the ingredients are and can’t find them in your kitchen it’s probably best not to buy it! Bon appétit! 😋
