Inclusion, Rights & Community

Grateful to my brother, Adamu Mohammed Salim, for recommending me to attend a very insightful program by Civic Watch Cameroon at Hill Park Hotel, Bamenda, on “Know Your Rights.”

Being surrounded by persons with disabilities, indigenous population leaders, and other community stakeholders reminded me of one important lesson: our rights come with responsibilities, and inclusion must be for everyone.

As we engage in healthcare and community development, we must ensure that our actions, words, and interventions leave no one behind.

A meaningful experience. A lesson I will continue to carry with me. 🤍

Know your rights. Respect the rights of others. Promote inclusion.

Protecting Our Environment, Protecting Our Health

Yesterday, through Communities Against Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases ( CAM-NTDs ), we joined hands with Eco Harmony Initiative and the Bambili Water Management Authority for an environmental health action at the Bambili Water Catchment.

Together, we planted 15 water-friendly trees around the catchment to contribute to the protection of this important water source and promote a healthier environment for the community.

At CAMNTD, we believe that disease prevention does not begin only in hospitals or laboratories. It also begins with the environment in which we live.

Protecting our water sources, restoring our ecosystems, and creating healthier communities are all part of our commitment to preventing diseases and improving public health.

This is more than planting trees. It is an investment in the health of our communities and generations to come.

Healthy Environment. Healthy Communities. Healthier Future.❤️😊

Tomorrow Is the Day!

A very special moment is almost here! Tomorrow, Friday, 21st August 2026, I will be attending the Heroes Impact Awards 2026 Heroes Network , where I have been nominated in the Health Category for founding CAM-NTDs (Communities Against Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases) and our work in malaria/NTD community education. 🦟

This nomination is not just about me, it represents the communities, volunteers, partners, and everyone who believes that no one should suffer or die from preventable and treatable diseases.

I am truly grateful for the recognition and excited to share this moment with you all.

Bangladeshi Minister Dies of Malaria After Visit to Cameroon

The death of Mahbubur Rahman on April 17, 2025, continues to echo beyond diplomatic circles. The Bangladeshi Minister of Commerce died from cerebral malaria after an official trip to Yaoundé, where he attended an international conference in late March.

According to relatives, no preventive measures were recommended before his travel. This lack of precautions raises concerns, as paludisme remains widespread in Cameroun. The country records millions of cases each year, with severe forms particularly dangerous for visitors without prior immunity.

Cerebral malaria, in particular, progresses rapidly and can become fatal within days without timely treatment. In the minister’s case, symptoms appeared after his return, narrowing the window for effective medical intervention.

Beyond the human tragedy, this case is prompting several governments to reassess health protocols for official travel. Prevention is now emerging as a critical factor in the planning of international missions.
