For many girls, especially those in underserved communities, these gaps can affect their education, health, choices and future.

At FOGES, we believe every girl deserves to be informed, equipped and empowered to become the best version of herself.

A GIRL’S FUTURE SHOULD NEVER BE LIMITED BY HER CIRCUMSTANCES.

Every girl deserves the knowledge, skills, confidence and opportunities to dream bigger and build a better future.

Yet, many girls, especially in rural areas, still face challenges that can affect their education, health, confidence and opportunities.

This is why the Foundation for Girls Education and Sanitation (FOGES), in partnership with the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and the Family, Women’s Center Mamfe, Youth Opportunities (YO) and Youth Leadership Initiative (YOLI), is bringing together 200–300 girls in Mamfe for the International Day of the Girl Child Conference 2026.

Through health education, leadership, entrepreneurship and practical skills, we want to equip girls today for a better tomorrow.

HOW MANY MORE WOMEN MUST DIE BEFORE WE SAY ENOUGH?

Over the past weeks, Cameroon has witnessed a painful rise in cases of femicide, women losing their lives simply because they are women.

But behind every case is a woman who had a name.

She was someone’s daughter.
Someone’s sister.
Someone’s wife.
Someone’s mother.
Someone’s friend.

She had dreams.
She had plans.
She had a future she deserved to see.

Women are not animals to be slaughtered.
Women are not possessions to be controlled.
And violence is never an expression of love.

Women give life. They nurture dreams, build families, strengthen communities and shape the future. Yet too many women are being silenced by violence.

Today, FOGES joins its voice with women and men across Cameroon to say: ENOUGH.

Enough of normalizing violence.
Enough of telling women to simply “endure.”
Enough of asking “What did she do?” instead of asking “Why did he choose violence?”
Enough of waiting until another woman becomes a headline.

We must speak.
We must act.
We must protect.
We must hold perpetrators accountable.

Because every woman deserves to go home alive.
