Five years ago, I met an elderly man named Pa Lum. He lived alone.
At that stage of his life, he had so many stories to tell—his experiences, his wisdom, and the lessons he had gathered over the years. But there was no one around to listen.
Loneliness slowly took a toll on his health. As his strength faded, even getting to a hospital became impossible. He became bedridden and eventually developed severe pressure sores that became badly infected.
The smell from his wounds caught the attention of people passing by, and I happened to be one of them.
When I walked into his home, I broke down in tears. His wounds had been infected.
We cleaned him up, prepared meals, and took him to the hospital. Sadly, a few days later, Pa Simon passed away.
His story has never left me.
It reminded me that our elderly loved ones don't just need medicine. They need companionship, dignity, and consistent care.
Life is becoming busier every day, and many families struggle to balance work, responsibilities, and caring for aging parents or relatives. That is where compassionate home care can make all the difference.
If you have loved one who needs support, you don't have to do it alone.
