A fast factory cannot make up for unclear requirements.

China’s first-half 2026 export figures caught my attention:
• Industrial robots: RMB 6.29 billion, up 18.6%
• Surgical robots: RMB 480 million, up 330%

These figures were presented at the July 14 government press briefing. They show export growth—not the development speed of every product.

For me, they raise a practical question:
How can an overseas company actually benefit from China’s manufacturing speed?
In this video, I explain why the connection between R&D, suppliers, and production matters as much as the capability of each team.

Before asking a factory to accelerate, check:
• Have the engineers understood the application and critical requirements?
• Is someone following up on materials, technical questions, and open decisions?
• Are all teams using the same drawings, specifications, and test requirements?

A revised drawing sitting in an inbox does not move a project forward.
Neither does an available component that has not been technically confirmed.

Much of my work is about closing these gaps between the overseas team and the Chinese supplier.
The goal is not to rush necessary development or testing.
It is to reduce the time lost between people.

A “factory” badge is a useful filter—but it is not proof of manufacturing capability.
Last week, I selected a well-rated supplier using several platform labels, including factory status, verification, and a high repeat-purchase rate.
Four days later, I received the wrong products, and the quantity was short.
The seller refunded the order, but the lost time could not be refunded.
Before placing an important order, verify:
• The registered company behind the store
• Whether production is in-house or sourced elsewhere
• The quality checks completed before shipment

A medical device SKD project is not simply a finished product packed into separate cartons.

The breakdown plan affects:
• Customs clearance
• Local assembly
• Final testing
• Future repairs and spare parts

Before confirming an SKD configuration, we complete the assembly and testing process ourselves. Then we review the practical issues with R&D, production, sales, and the customer’s quality, logistics, and customs teams.

The goal is not only to ship separate parts.
It is to make sure the customer can import, assemble, test, and support the product locally.
Do not test the SKD plan for the first time after the goods arrive.

Supplier verification is not a one-time check. It is an ongoing process of building evidence.

A full-time employee in China does not automatically give an overseas company more control.

For companies with regular—but not daily—China-side work, a long-term part-time partner may be a more practical option.
The buyer can keep its direct relationship with the factory, while receiving local support for:
• Supplier development
• Factory visits and inspections
• Payment and shipment coordination
• Local problem-solving
The important question is not simply “employee or service provider?”
It is whether confidentiality, responsibilities, reporting, and commercial boundaries are clearly managed.
Real control comes from a transparent system—not a job title.
