Something new is taking shape… 🙏

A big thank you to Cyprus Business Group (CBG) for the opportunity to become a CBG Expert — and especially for the support, collaboration and genuine interest in what I am building.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Elisabeth Villiger Toufexis and Tom Britton for an interview and talking about something that has been at the heart of my work for many years:

What if we learned to understand our mouth — not just take care of our teeth?

Our mouth can tell us so much.
About stress.
Breathing.
Sleep.
Inflammation.
Habits.

And sometimes, about what is happening elsewhere in the body.

When we start teaching this understanding early — to children as well as adults — I believe prevention can become something very different.

This is the heart of Your Mouth Your Health, which you already have seen a bit about in my earlier posts.

What started as an idea is gradually becoming something much bigger, and I'm very excited about the conversations and collaborations beginning to happen around it.

One of the things I appreciate about CBG is exactly this: bringing people, expertise and businesses together and creating space for new connections and opportunities.

Thank you Cyprus business Group & team — and to the members who continue to support, connect and inspire.

More to come. ❤️

Waking up with a dry mouth?

You might automatically think you didn't drink enough water.

But there may be more to consider.

Saliva is part of the mouth's natural protection. It helps protect our teeth and soft tissues, supports swallowing and digestion, and helps maintain balance in the oral environment.

So when the mouth regularly feels dry, I become curious about why.

Could it be medication?
Not enough fluids?
Reduced saliva production?

Or — particularly when you wake up dry — have you been breathing through your mouth while sleeping?

Sometimes the symptom itself is only the beginning of the story.

Pay attention to the small signs your body gives you. They may be worth exploring.

What if bleeding gums are telling you more than “brush better”?

Bleeding gums are unfortunately common, but not normal.

But wrong brushing isn't always the reason.

Of course plaque and tatar building is important. But our gums can also be influenced by hormonal changes, dry mouth, medication and, in some situations, nutritional status.

Pregnancy is a good example of how hormonal changes can make the gums react differently.

The important point isn't to look at bleeding gums and try to diagnose yourself.

It is to become curious and then search for professional advice.

Though, you may ask yourself: What has changed?
How long has it been happening?
And could there be more than one factor involved?

The mouth can give us clues.

Learning to notice them is part of understanding our health.

What if we have been asking the wrong question all along?

For decades we have asked:
"How do we keep our body healthy?"
Or:
"How do we keep our teeth healthy?"

Maybe we should also ask:
"How does a healthy mouth support a healthy body?"

That small shift changes everything.

It is the question that inspires everything I am building through my new project "Your Mouth Your Health", the Mouth - Body Connection.

Not because the mouth is more important than the rest of the body. But because it is part of it.

When we start seeing the body as one connected system.....we might begin making different choices.

Most people see their mouth only as a place for teeth.

But it's so much more than that.

The mouth is where the travel of the nutrition begins. Where the oral microbiome lives. Where breathing, chewing and swallowing work together. Where small daily habits can influence overall wellbeing.

Learning about and understanding this connection is crucial for our general health.

When we understand just a bit about our bodies, we have a better possibility to make better choices.

This is what Your Mouth Your Health is all about.

Behind every great profession are people who choose to inspire others. 🌍

One of the greatest gifts from the IFDH Congress wasn't just the knowledge I gained— it was the people I met.

I had the pleasure of meeting dedicated leaders, educators and passionate dental hygienists who work every day to strengthen our profession and improve oral health around the world.

A special thank you to: International Federation of Dental Hygienists, Jill Rethman, Tammy Filipiak, Kelly Swanson, Barbara Tritz , Amanda Cole Hill and Danske Tandplejere - for din sundhed - "team" danske tandplejere for your inspiration, your leadership and your commitment to our profession.

Every conversation reminded me that prevention, education and collaboration have the power to create healthier communities.
I'm grateful to be part of this global dental hygiene family.

❤️ Thank you, , for bringing us together. The conversations may be over… but the inspiration continues. ❤️

IFDH 2026 - was much more than a dental congress.🫶

It brought 47 different nations together - dental hygienists, educators, researchers, organisations and industry partners from around the world with one shared goal: improving oral health through prevention, education and collaboration. 💪

For me, it was an opportunity to learn, exchange ideas and build new international connections while continuing to develop Your Mouth Your Health — a family and children's health education platform that connects oral health with whole-body wellbeing.

I came home inspired, with new perspectives, valuable conversations and exciting ideas for the future.

Thank you to everyone who made this congress such a memorable experience. ❤️

Stay tuned for my next reel, where I will introduce some of the inspiring people
I had the pleasure of meeting.

Most people only notice saliva when they have too little of it. 🤷

But saliva is far more than moisture.

It helps protect your teeth, supports the oral microbiome, begins the digestion of food, buffers acids, and contributes to the natural repair of tooth surfaces.👍

When saliva changes, your oral environment changes too.

That is why a dry mouth is more than an inconvenience — it can influence the balance of the entire oral ecosystem.

Understanding the role of saliva helps us understand why oral health is about much more than brushing alone.

Observe. Understand. Support Health.
