As children, we often hope that someone will come and save us.

Little do we realise that someone will be our adults selves.

“Inner child work” has become such a popular phrase lately but what is it actually?

It’s a way of connecting with the younger selves that…
… were abandoned
… who’s needs weren’t met
… who felt alone
… couldn’t express what they were feeling
… weren’t safe

It’s about tuning into and getting to know those parts of us. About looking after them now as an adult now and finding a way to bring them home.

Often, that is all they want. Because it’s what they didn’t get back then.

Do you have a relationship with your younger self?
Those little parts of you that have unmet needs and desires?
That might run the show (ie. you life) from time to time?

And if you haven’t tuned in with your inner child in a while (or ever!), what do you think they want and need right now?

Mine is after a nice hot bath and a nap right now 😴 and maybe some chocolate 😜

May all our glorious adult selves come back for all the little parts we had to leave behind. They will be so excited to see what an incredible human you have turned out to be ❤️

You’re not feeling stuck in a cycle because you lack insight (the WHY and HOW)…

You’re stuck because the cycle is serving a purpose for you.

So instead of asking yourself why you keep repeating the same pattern, try asking yourself this:

What is the benefit of this pattern?

I know that might sound strange when the pattern is causing you so much frustration. But even the behaviours we desperately want to change often started as ways of protecting us.

Maybe people pleasing helped you maintain connection.
Maybe staying in control helped you feel safe.
Maybe shutting down protected you from feelings that once felt too overwhelming to experience.

And even when these patterns start costing us more than they give us, the parts of us that developed them don’t necessarily know that.

They’re still trying to do their job.

This is why trying to force yourself out of a pattern, or shaming yourself for falling back into it, rarely creates lasting change.

The goal isn’t to get rid of these parts of yourself.
It’s to:
✨understand what they’re protecting you from
✨what they’re afraid might happen if they stop, and
✨what they might need to feel safe enough to do things differently.

Because sometimes, the very thing keeping you stuck is also the thing that once helped you survive.

And change becomes a whole lot more possible when you stop fighting yourself and start getting curious instead.

Curious to learn more about how to work with this? That’s just one of the things we will be exploring in my upcoming 6-week online program “Cycle Shapers”.

If you want to be the first to get all the info, comment or DM me “Waitlist” and I’ll reach out to you 🙌🏼

Keep getting stuck when you’re trying to create something?

Whether it’s a new project, career, businesses or a new habit, have you noticed yourself getting stuck in the same spot over and over?

It’s probably your birth imprint at work!

Your birth imprint (how you were conceived, gestated, birthed and received post partum care) was your first nervous system imprint. And it plays out whenever you go to “birth” something of your own!

Here is how it shows up:

1️⃣How you were conceived = How you come up with ideas
2️⃣How your pregnancy went = How you plan and execute things
3️⃣How you were born = How you complete things
4️⃣How your post partum went = How you maintain/sustain things

Curious how this plays out for you? And more importantly what you can do about it?

We explore exactly that in my upcoming 6 week online course “Cycle Shapers”. Comment “Waitlist” and I’ll send you more info!

Sometimes the patterns we’re trying so hard to break didn’t begin with us.

Our family history can hold clues to the struggles we experience today, from relationship patterns to our sense of belonging and the way we navigate change.

Family Constellations offers a way to explore these connections and find a different path forward.

If you’re curious about the patterns you might be carrying, my upcoming 6-week online program is for you.

Comment WAITLIST and I’ll send you more info. ❤️

You can’t create a new life while continuing to do everything that created the old one 😅

Sometimes the change you’re craving requires you to change too. Your habits. Your relationships. Your choices. The ways you respond to things. Maybe even some of the stories you’ve been carrying about what’s possible for you.

It’s uncomfortable, but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

And you don’t have to figure it all out alone.

I’m running a 6-week women’s program starting in November for women who are ready to make meaningful, sustainable changes in their lives.

Comment WAITLIST and I’ll send you the details when they’re ready.

Keep repeating the same pattern although you know you want to do it differently?

Often the first step to healing is understanding yourself better ☺️

Knowing why we do what we do can be such a big support on our healing journey.

This reel can give you some starting points for self reflection and exploration! What did you find most useful?

Just some of the opinions that shape how I work as a therapist and group facilitator.

I’m interested in the messy middle. The place where compassion doesn’t mean abandoning your boundaries. Where understanding your patterns is only the beginning. Where spirituality can support healing without becoming a way of avoiding what hurts.

I’m not here to give you a perfect healing formula, tell you to “just trust your body”, or convince you that one breakthrough will change everything.

I care about curiosity, accountability, embodiment, relationships, and actually practising something different in your life.

And yes, I have opinions 😂

Some of them might resonate deeply. Some might challenge you. Some might make you think I’m absolutely not your person. Some might make you feel like this is exactly the right place to be!

All of that is useful information.

If this is the kind of therapy and personal work you’re looking for, come join me 🔥

Want to change a pattern? Here is the #1 question to ask yourself ⬇️

When you’re stuck in a pattern you can’t seem to change is: How old do I feel right now?

Because sometimes the part of us reacting isn’t our present-day adult self. It’s a younger part responding from an old wound or survival strategy.

And this is where the real “work” is!

The goal isn’t to get rid of your inner child or tell them to shut up. 😅

It’s to learn how to care for that younger part without letting them drive.

So when you notice yourself getting really activated, try asking:

How old do I feel right now?
What does this younger part of me need?
And what would my adult self choose to do here?

Maybe your younger part is terrified of rejection, so you want to chase someone for reassurance.

Maybe they’re afraid of conflict, so you want to say yes when you really mean no.

Maybe they feel unsafe being seen, so you want to disappear.

You can tend to that part without handing them the steering wheel.

That’s the practice.

Learning to let your adult self make the decision while still listening to, caring for and protecting the younger parts of you.

Because when we can create that little bit of space between what we feel and what we do, we have a chance to respond differently.

And that’s where old patterns can actually start to change.

So… who’s been driving your car lately? 👀

Do you understand your patterns but find yourself repeating them? 🤨

You might have had a “Oh, that’s why I do that!” moment…yet find yourself doing the exact same thing a week later 😅 don’t worry I’ve been there too!

It doesn’t mean your insight was wrong. It means understanding a pattern is only the beginning of changing it.

Lasting change usually needs four things:

🤨 Awareness - noticing the pattern
🧠 Insight - understanding the pattern
👣 Practice - doing something differently, repeatedly
🌿 Resourcing - finding what supports you to keep making changes

So next time you have a big realisation, don’t stop at “Now I understand why.”

Instead you can ask yourself:

“What would doing something differently look like?”
“And what would help me feel safe/supported enough to do it?”

Insight alone doesn’t equal change. It’s only the first step!
