What is better: biofeedback or neurofeedback?
⠀
Biofeedback is an ever-advancing field in the world of medical science, and with each passing year, new cutting-edge developments are being made.
⠀
Biofeedback, and one of its subsects, neurofeedback, are two non-invasive treatment protocols that we use to treat a range of disorders without requiring invasive medications. But what’s the difference between these two technologies? And is one superior to the other?
⠀
In short, neurofeedback is a specific type of biofeedback used to garner valuable information regarding brain activity. People use it when treating patients with traumatic brain injuries or other chronic conditions that affect the brain.
⠀
Conversely, biofeedback is a term used to encompass a range of therapies, helping patients leverage the connection between the mind and body to reach a state of deep and total relaxation. Once you’re in this state, we use biofeedback to help you learn to control your body’s involuntary responses to stress better.
⠀
This helps alleviate symptoms of a range of disorders and ailments. People use biofeedback in the treatment of PTSD (https://psychiatry.org/patients-families/ptsd/what-is-ptsd), anxiety (https://www.drakeinstitute.com/anxiety-disorder-treatment), depression (https://psychiatry.org/patients-families/depression/what-is-depression), and even irritable bowel syndrome (https://www.niddk.nih.gov/health-information/digestive-diseases/irritable-bowel-syndrome).
⠀
Our goal with biofeedback is to empower you, helping you relieve symptoms and achieve relief in the long term without having to resort to prescription medications.
⠀
For the last several decades, MandelayBHO has been producing biofeedback devices to improve the quality of life of our patients. We use these advanced technologies to treat a range of debilitating illnesses and disorders.
