I’m officially unemployed 😅🩺

Changeover day hit different this year, watching everyone else start their next rotation while I was going down a different road.

Honestly, I’m feeling so many emotions at once, but I’m truly looking forward to this year out and being able to prioritise my own timeline.

Now the actual priority is leaving Coventry and getting closer to home. 💬 let me know down below, where you’d recommend me living as I take a year out?

See you in episode 5 of the Unemployed Doctor Diaries!! 🏠

It’s easy to see the visible milestone, but we rarely get to see the awkward, messy beginnings or years that made it possible.

So if you’re in one of those messy, in-between chapters right now, try to reframe it.

It’s not ‘standing’ in the way of the big goals you’re working towards. It’s actually building the version of you who’ll be capable of handling them 💗

Your current chapter may be doing more for you than you realise!! ❤️

✨ What’s one thing you’re proud of that people don’t know about? Let me know in the comments

Foundation training: officially done ✅🩺

I don’t quite have the words to express how much the last two years have shaped me. I started this crazy job in a brand new city, not knowing a single person, not knowing how any of it would go, but eager to learn and figure it out as I went.

And boy, has it been a journey.

From tears in the doctor’s office, to 4 am emergency surgeries, to laughter and trauma bonding with friends, to more brain chemistry-altering moments than I can count, these two years have genuinely been insane!

Overall, I have enjoyed my first two years as a doctor and still believe that being trusted to care for people at their most vulnerable times is a privilege I don’t think I’ll ever fully get used to.

Of course, a huge shout-out to my family, my friends, and you all, because I could not have survived this without you, quite literally!!

Now, it’s time for the next one 🤍

P.S. If you’re a new doctor, comment “DOCTOR” and I’ll send you all my top resources. You’ve got this, bestie ✨

72 hours left as an employed doctor 😅🩺

I won’t lie, I thought this week would feel more “main character energy” and less “mild identity crisis,” but here we are.

Turns out saying “I’m taking a year out” out loud to colleagues who’ve only ever known you as the girl with a plan is a whole personality test in itself 😭

If you’re a doctor and want all my top resources? Comment “DOCTOR” and I’ll send them your way 🤍

See you in episode 4!!

Here is everything I wish I knew before becoming a doctor:

➜ Good systems genuinely make life easier. Organising your rota, portfolio, meals, life admin and time management will save you so much stress.

➜ Stop comparing yourself to everyone else. You’re probably doing far better than you think.

➜ You CAN have a life outside of medicine. You can be a good, committed doctor and still have hobbies, goals and a life that doesn’t begin and end with the hospital.

➜ Don’t panic if you don’t have your whole life mapped out yet. You don’t need to have every specialty, exam and career decision figured out straight away.

➜ A bad week is not a bad month. A bad month is not a bad year. And one bad rotation doesn’t mean you’ve chosen the wrong career.

➜ Please don’t suffer in silence. This job is incredibly rewarding, but it can also be emotionally heavy. Therapy, counselling or simply talking to someone is a sign of strength, not weakness.

If you’re starting medical school or your 🥺big girl doctor job🩺 soon, I hope this reminds you that you’re not expected to have everything figured out from day one.

Comment “DOCTOR” and I’ll send you my top 10 favourite resources that made my first year so much easier. 📚✨

YOU’VE GOT THIS FRIEND!! ❤️❤️

For every ambitious woman in her 20s navigating huge life changes… you’re not alone 🥹

This week I started packing up my flat whilst reminiscing on my last two years here and trying to comprehend that it’ll all be over very soon.

If you’re in your own version of an identity crisis right now, trying to figure out who you are outside of the plan you always thought you’d follow, I’ve made a free one-page guide to help you work through it 🤍

Comment “GUIDE” and I’ll send it straight to you x

For every ambitious woman in her 20s wondering if your biggest goals are possible...

I’ve learnt that the reason I’m not afraid to bet on myself or back myself isn’t because I think I’ll succeed every time. It’s because I know I’m willing to put in the work, the time, the energy and the sacrifices my goals require.

From becoming a doctor 🩺 to building businesses, pursuing social impact and launching our first scholarship this year for disadvantaged students ❤️ (still screaming about that one 😩), one thing has stayed the same:

Don’t make your dreams negotiable.

Your ambitions might evolve, the journey may take longer than you expected….

but you’d be surprised what can happen when you refuse to negotiate with the life you know you’re capable of building.

The journey is nearly over 🩺

2 years ago, I moved from London to Coventry for my big girl doctor job.

Now, in less than 2 weeks, I’ll be finishing my foundation training, and will officially be unemployed 😅

I can’t believe it’s the end of this chapter, and I also cannot wait to see what the next year has in store for me!

Stick around to find out what I get up to besties, as well be figuring this out together 🤍
