🌿 Sapiosana Herbal Knowledge 26.7
**Quality, growing your own – and goodbye!**
With passionflower, active-compound content varies strongly depending on how it's grown and processed. So a second look at the label pays off:
🛒 When buying:
🛒 Only Passiflora incarnata is medicinally tested – not P. edulis (the maracuja fruit plant)
🛒 "Ph. Eur." pharmacy grade guarantees a minimum flavonoid content
🛒 Cut herb over powder – you see what you're getting. Still slightly greenish, aromatic
🛒 Organic pays off: the plant is pesticide-sensitive and residues end up in your tea
🛒 Store dark and dry, max one year – active compounds are light-sensitive
🌱 Home-growing works well! Sheltered, sunny spot, a trellis. Winter-hardy in mild climates. Harvest during flowering – plus the flower itself is a showpiece.
Passionflower is proof that "gentle" and "effective" aren't opposites. It calms without sedating and helps with sleep without creating dependence.
That wraps up our passionflower series! Next herb coming soon. Which one would you like? Drop it in the comments! 👇
