It's cPTSD Awareness Day ❤️🩹
I wasn't expecting to become an advocate for healing cPTSD, but years of staying silent almost killed me.
So here I am.
I was quiet because I thought things would turn around eventually, but they just never did.
It was soul-crushing.
To relieve the pressure, I started talking about it around the end of last year. Since then, I've learned that speaking up is an integral part of healing the wounds I've been left with.
I don't see these people anymore, which is another part of the healing process.
It's seen as a punishment, but the truth is that it's a protective measure against their provocations.
They defend, dismiss, and insist I can "pretend I'm fine" or that it's just not really that bad.
They don't care that my hair fell out in chunks and took years to grow back.
They don't care that I've spent thousands getting mental health support and treatment to try and heal this wound alone.
Dismissing the impact their behavior baits an angry reaction that is immediately exploited so they can play the victim.
There's a name for this btw: "reactive abuse"
The point is to confuse and exhaust me enough that I give in and jump back into the dysfunctional loop again, but I will not be hurting myself like that. It traumatized me, and I have no interest in making an already impossible situation worse for myself.
Since they won't hold themselves accountable, I will.
With my absence, and my truth.
So I talk about my journey healing from people like this because maybe it helps someone else who needs it 🫶🏽
