Another week, another opportunity to make a positive impact in someone’s life. ❤️

At Heartbeat Clinic, we believe that while medicine heals the body, compassion heals the soul. Every smile, every encouraging word, every listening ear, and every act of kindness has the power to bring comfort and hope to those who need it most.

As we begin this new week, let kindness guide your heart and your actions because you never know how deeply your compassion may touch someone else’s life.

“Medicine heals the body, but compassion heals the soul. Never underestimate the power of kindness.”🫀

There are moments in life that remind us how fragile we truly are. We become so busy chasing deadlines, building careers, and planning for tomorrow that we sometimes forget the greatest blessing we already have… today.

Death is permanent. Life is a gift.

Every sunrise is another opportunity to hug the people you love, laugh a little louder, forgive a little quicker, and take better care of the heart that has carried you through every joy and every storm.

Dr. Michael Reefe encourages us to L.I.V.E.

❤️ Lower your risk factors.
🚶🏾 Increase your physical activity.
🩺 Verify your blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar.
🥗 Eat a heart healthy diet.

Your heart has been faithful to you since before you took your first breath. Honor it with the care it deserves.

Because the greatest gift you can give your family isn’t just your love… it’s more time with you.

Live today. Love deeply. Protect your heart. ❤️

☀️❤️ MYTH vs. FACT FRIDAY ❤️☀️

When the temperatures rise, your awareness of your heart health should as well.

Many people believe that feeling their heart race in the heat is “normal.” While heat can make your heart work harder, it’s important to know when your body may be telling you something more.

💭 MYTH:
“The summer heat can’t affect my heart. If my heart is racing, it’s just because I’m hot.”

✅ FACT:
Extreme heat can place additional stress on your cardiovascular system. Dehydration and electrolyte imbalances may lead to palpitations, arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms), and can worsen existing heart conditions. An Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) is a quick, painless test that can help detect abnormal heart rhythms and other cardiac concerns when symptoms occur.

🫀 Listen to your heart. If you experience:
• Chest pain
• Persistent palpitations
• Dizziness or fainting (syncope)
• Shortness of breath

Don’t ignore the signs. Seek medical attention promptly.

💬 Have you ever felt your heart racing during a very hot day? Share your experience or let us know if this myth surprised you.

🌙🫀 For many of us, the day is winding down. Dinner is finished, the children are asleep, and we’re finally finding a quiet moment to relax.

But heart disease doesn’t take the night off.

In fact, many people experience symptoms in the evening and simply brush them off as stress, exhaustion, indigestion, or “something that will pass.” Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn’t.

That’s why it’s important to know about one of the simplest yet most powerful tests in cardiology—the Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG).

An ECG is a quick, painless, non-invasive test that records the electrical activity of your heart. In just a few minutes, it can provide valuable information that helps your healthcare provider diagnose or monitor several heart conditions.

An ECG can help detect:

❤️ Cardiac Arrhythmias – abnormal heart rhythms such as Atrial Fibrillation (AFib), Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT), and Bradycardia.

❤️ Myocardial Infarction – evidence of a current or previous heart attack.

❤️ Myocardial Ischemia – reduced blood flow to the heart muscle due to narrowed coronary arteries.

❤️ Left Ventricular Hypertrophy (LVH) – thickening of the heart muscle, often caused by long-standing hypertension.

❤️ Conduction Disorders – including Atrioventricular (AV) Block and Bundle Branch Blocks, which affect how electrical signals travel through the heart.

❤️ Electrolyte Imbalances – such as Hyperkalemia (high potassium) and Hypokalemia (low potassium), both of which can affect normal heart rhythm.

❤️ Medication Effects – including medicines that prolong the QT interval or alter the heart’s electrical conduction.

❤️ Pacemaker Function – confirming that implanted cardiac devices are working as intended.

🚨 Never ignore these symptoms:
• Chest pain or pressure (Angina)
• Heart palpitations
• Shortness of breath (Dyspnea)
• Dizziness or lightheadedness
• Fainting (Syncope)
• Unexplained fatigue

An ECG takes only a few minutes, but those few minutes can provide life-saving information.

💙 As this Heart Beat Health Wednesday comes to a close, let tonight be a reminder that looking after your heart isn’t something to put off until tomorrow. Your heart has been working for you every second of today. Make sure you’re doing the same for it.

❤️ Hey you! Your Heart Deserves the Best Version of You, yes YOU!❤️

🤫 Here’s the secret… there is no secret.

💪 A healthier heart isn’t built overnight or through shortcuts. It’s built through the simple choices you make each day. 🚶🏾‍♀️ A walk, 🚴🏾‍♂️ a bike ride, 🏋🏾 strength training, or 🧘🏾‍♀️ a good stretch is an investment in a stronger, healthier tomorrow.

You don’t have to do everything at once. Start with just one or two of these exercises today. Whether you’re exercising alone, with your spouse, your children, or a friend, it all counts, and it all matters.

Your future self will thank you for the decision you make today. Your health is your responsibility, and you owe it to yourself to protect the one heart that has been faithfully beating for you since the day you were born.

🙌 Start today. Stay consistent. You deserve a healthy heart.

Think heart disease is something you only need to worry about later in life? Think again.

Many people in their 30s and 40s are living with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and other silent risk factors without even knowing it. Heart disease does not always come with a warning sign, and being “young” does not automatically mean being protected.

This week, Dr. Michael Reefe breaks down why heart disease can start much earlier than most people think and why knowing your numbers, understanding your risk, and taking prevention seriously now can make all the difference later.

Your heart deserves attention at every age. ❤️
Watch, learn, and share this with someone who needs the reminder.

❤️ It’s Friday, and at Heartbeat Clinic we love sharing heart facts that can help protect you and the people you love.

Today’s is about Broken Heart Syndrome, also known as Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy — a condition many people have heard about, but few truly understand.

One of the biggest myths is that it’s “not a real heart condition” or that it’s simply emotional distress. The truth is that Broken Heart Syndrome is a real and documented heart condition that can temporarily affect how the heart functions, and in some cases, it can be serious.

Another common misconception is that it only affects women. While it is more commonly seen in women, anyone can be affected — including men and younger people. That’s why it’s so important not to dismiss symptoms or assume someone is “too young” or “not the type” to experience a heart problem.

At Heartbeat Clinic, we believe that awareness saves lives. The more we understand about heart conditions like this, the better we can recognize symptoms, take concerns seriously, and seek medical care when needed.

Take a moment to read today’s myth vs fact, and share it with someone who may need this reminder: when it comes to your heart, never ignore what your body is trying to tell you. ❤️
