Dual checkpoint blockade allowed 70.6% of patients with microsatellite instability-high (MSI-H) resectable gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma (G/GEJAC) to avoid surgery in a small cohort of the INFINITY study.

In a 10-year follow-up of the Appendicitis Acuta multicenter RCT, adult patients with uncomplicated treated with antibiotics experienced a recurrence rate of 37.8% and a cumulative appendectomy rate of 44.3%.

The cumulative complication rate was lower for the antibiotic group at 8.5% compared to 27.4% for those who underwent surgery.

A decision analytical model using updated SANO trial data assessed long-term outcomes of active surveillance vs standard esophagectomy in patients with locally advanced esophageal cancer achieving clinical complete response ( ) after neoadjuvant chemoradiation.

At 5 years, standard esophagectomy was associated with higher quality-adjusted life-years and life-years compared with active surveillance, though the latter offered short-term quality-of-life benefits. Sensitivity analyses indicated active surveillance may be reasonable for select patients with low recurrence risk or high surgical risk.
