An Intraocular Lens (IOL) is a tiny, artificial lens implanted inside the eye to replace the eye's natural lens. As we age, our natural lens start to become cloudy. This clouding is what we call a cataract. Because a cataract blocks and scatters light, glasses can no longer fix your vision. The only way to restore clear sight is to surgically remove the cloudy natural lens and replace it with a new lens implant.

مع تقدم العمر، تصبح عدسة العين الطبيعية مُعْتِمَة و هذا ما يسمي بالمياه البيضاء. إعتام عدسة العين يحجب الضوء و تصبح النظارات الطبية غير قادرة على إصلاح النظر. الطريقة الوحيدة لاستعادة وضوح الرؤية هي إزالة المياه البيضاء و يتم زراعة عدسة صناعية جديدة صغيرة داخل العين.
