The maze is an organ inside our inner ear. It is divided into two parts: one responsible for hearing and the other one for body balance.
The cocclea, which is responsible for our hearing, receives stimulus from the middle ear and turns them into electrical signals that are sent and interpreted by our brain.
The vestibular system is the part responsible for our balance and functions as a motion sensor. It consists of a set of organs: the sac, the utrule, and three semicircular canals. Each of these structures captures a type of movement/acceleration of our head and body.
Due to the proximity of the two structures there is a direct relation between balance and hearing, making pathologies associated in the two parts common.
When feeling any change you should seek a qualified professional to guide you and make the necessary routes for a full evaluation.
