Something I wish I'd known when I moved to Spain on my own in 2022.

When you take out health insurance here, Spanish law requires you to declare your health status in the medical questionnaire (Insurance Contract Law, Article 10).

A lot of people rush through it and leave something "minor" out to get a cheaper price or a faster approval for their visa. It works… until the day you actually need to use the policy. If the insurer finds out something was hidden, they can refuse to pay right when you need it most.

My advice: declare everything, even if it feels scary. The insurer assesses it, and you know exactly what's covered and what isn't before you pay anything. An uncomfortable answer now is better than a surprise in a hospital.

🇪🇸Mudarte a España empieza por elegir bien tu seguro médico. Estas son las 4 verdades que nadie te cuenta:
1️⃣ El más barato puede dejarte sin visado. El consulado exige una póliza sin copagos, sin carencias y con repatriación. Muchas opciones económicas no cumplen alguna de las tres.
2️⃣ Un solo copago o una carencia pueden invalidar tu póliza. Revísalo antes de firmar, no después.
3️⃣ Lo que le sirvió a tu amigo puede no servirte a ti. Cada visado tiene sus propios requisitos.
4️⃣ Un seguro de viaje no sirve para residir. Está pensado para vacaciones, no para vivir en España
