This is Rambo Growing Old 🖤🐾

Since December, we’ve had some pretty sad moments together. The hardest was in January when he suddenly couldn’t get up by himself. When we helped him to his feet, he couldn’t put any weight on one of his back legs.
Rambo isn’t exactly a fan of vets, so after a little “Bob Marley level” relaxation with some CBD oil, we managed to get him there for X-rays.
The diagnosis? A torn ligament.
The solution? Surgery.
The cost? Around €2,600.

I was told there was nothing else that could be done. It didn’t sit right with me for one second. So I asked for the X-rays and took Rambo home. It took four days to get the images sent through so I could forward them to his physiotherapist. The verdict from her ?
Not a torn ligament.
Arthritis.

Rambo has had hip problems since he found his way into our lives at just seven months old. Alongside that, we’ve managed leishmania and many other challenges over the years, mostly with a combination of natural therapies, careful management, and a lot of love.

I wonder how many people have been persuaded into expensive procedures, or even worse and had to make the heartbreaking decision to put a beloved pet to sleep,because they were told there was no other option and they didn’t have the funds 😔

My intuition told me all along that it was arthritis. And Rambo seemed to tell me the same thing the very next day, when he started putting weight on the leg again after I made a few adjustments to his natural support routine.

These days, he has good days and not so good days.
He’s slower.
Stiffer.
A little more scraggy looking maybe 🤔

On mornings like today when he makes that slow walk out to the stables with me. I’m extra grateful 🥰

But every single morning, I’m grateful.
Grateful for one more short walk.
One more tail wag.
One more day to spend time on the floor just chatting to him while he lays his head on me watching and taking in my words.
One more day with a soul who has shared so much of life’s journey with us.

Growing old isn’t always easy.

But growing old with love is a beautiful thing. ❤️

Today I got up early than normal. And that’s from someone who’s out of her bed every day before 6am regardless 😅

Not because I felt like it.
Not because it was easy.
Not because I woke up overflowing with motivation.

I got up earlier because some things matter more than how we feel in the moment.

Growth doesn’t come from the days when everything is convenient. It comes from the days when you’d rather stay in bed, hit snooze, or tell yourself you’ll start tomorrow but you show up anyway.

Discipline isn’t about being perfect. It’s about keeping the promises you make to yourself, even when nobody is watching.

If you have a goal, a dream, or a healthier, stronger version of yourself you’re working towards, you’ll always find time. The excuses will always be there too, but only one of them moves you forward.

One workout.
One walk.
One meditation.
One healthy choice.
One early morning.

Small actions, repeated consistently, create extraordinary results.

Today I chose commitment over excuses.

Don’t the day that when the owl appears, look beyond what your eyes can see and listen to what your soul already knows ? 🤔

This little beauty couldn’t have appeared much clearer. He happily sat on my hand just starting at me while I walked about to find my phone to take a picture of him 🥰

Why wouldn’t I get up at the crack of dawn on. Saturday when this is waiting outside ☀️

The quiet.
The cool morning air rolling across the fields.
The sky putting on a show before most people have even found the snooze button.

Also, because there are three beautiful horses who believe breakfast should be served at precisely the same time every single morning 😂

And if I’m even 30 seconds late, apparently it becomes a full emergency situation involving dramatic stares, stable door banging and deeply offended horse energy.

Peaceful sunrise ☀️followed immediately by management demanding their breakfast😅

A horse doesn’t connect with the version of you that smiles and says “I’m OK.”
They connect with the nervous system underneath it all.
The real you.
The tired you.
The grieving you.
The healing you.
Their hearts are huge not just physically but energetically. ❤️‍🩹
And when we stand beside them, our own heartbeat can begin to regulate with theirs.
Breathing slows.
Shoulders soften.
The mind quiets.
They don’t need your story.
They don’t need explanations.
They simply feel you.

And somehow, in their silent presence, they remind us how to come back to ourselves all over again ✨

Our sacred mountain at night 🌙

The world goes quiet here in a way that’s hard to explain unless you’ve sat in it yourself. I will never get bored of this quiet and feeling of solitude 🥰
The odd dog barking somewhere in the distance.
That cool evening air that feels like it reaches right into your soul.

No rushing.
No noise.
No pressure to be anything other than exactly who you are in that moment.

Just the mountain standing still in the darkness, quietly holding space for all of us beneath it.

This is the kind of peace people forget exists until they finally stop long enough to feel it again. ✨

I adore trees , and yes, I’m a tree hugger 🤷🏼‍♀️

Trees don’t just grow, they hold energy.
Quietly. Patiently. Season after season.

This one has stood through storms, heat, wind, change, and yet every year it still chooses to bloom in the most breathtaking way.
No rushing. No forcing. Just trusting its time.

I don’t think we’re not so different?

Maybe healing looks a little like this too?
Letting go of what no longer serves us.
Standing rooted through difficult seasons.
Trusting that even after the hardest storms, beauty still returns.

And when the petals finally fall, they don’t leave emptiness behind.
They create a whole new kind of magic on the ground below. 💜

Nature really does know how to remind us that you don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. You just have to be willing to bloom again. ✨

✨Friday Reminder ✨

Everyone you meet is going through something.
So maybe don’t get stroppy with someone in the supermarket, roll your eyes at the waitress, get grumpy because someone doesn’t reply to a text message , or beep immediately the second the traffic lights change 🤷🏼‍♀️

The person in front of you might be exhausted, grieving, stressed, heartbroken, overwhelmed, or simply trying their best to hold it together for just…..one…. more…..day.

Kindness costs absolutely nothing ❤️‍🩹
Patience costs a few extra seconds.
And your stroppy reaction or aggressive little car horn probably isn’t helping nearly as much as you think it is 🫣🙏
