The Marriage of Heaven & Earth — A Taoist Nei Gong Immersion 📅 21–23 May

Over three days, we explore a deceptively simple two-part circling movement that unlocks the internal dynamics behind Tai Chi, Qigong and Bagua.

We’re in the season of the Wood Element — the time of the Liver, the Sinews and the rising energy of Spring. A perfect moment to release long-held tension, restore elasticity and reconnect with a deeper sense of vitality and flow.

My Dantian Activated During Meditation

This happened on a 10-day silent meditation retreat.

No Tai Chi. No Qi Gong. No intention to work with energy.

And yet the dantian began to activate in a way that completely changed how movement was arising in the body.

It felt like something deeper was orchestrating my mobility.

The Marriage of Heaven & Earth

A three-day Nei Gong immersion exploring one of the foundational practices of the Taoist Internal Arts.

Through a simple two-part circling form, we begin to open the spine, release tension in the connective tissues, establish a gentle pulsing through the joints, and develop a deeper internal circulation within the body.

As the body softens and reorganises, movement becomes lighter and more integrated — less effort, more connection.

Practised in spring, aligned with the Wood element in Chinese Medicine, this is a time of growth, renewal and forward movement.

As the body drops and the breath deepens, the centre of gravity lowers.

Through Song (鬆), the legs and arms release away from the centre —
and from this, connection and internal pressure begin to emerge.

Year of the Horse 2026 — A Classical Perspective

In early Chinese mythology, a creature known as the Dragon-Horse (Longma, 龙马) is said to have risen from the Yellow River bearing a sacred diagram on its back. This diagram, the Hetu (River Map), revealed patterns of Heaven and Earth to the legendary Fu Xi and became one of the symbolic foundations of Chinese cosmology and the Yijing.

The Dragon-Horse is not a destroyer, nor a sign of chaos.
It represents Heaven revealing order — the moment when the hidden patterns of reality become visible to those who are aligned enough to perceive them.

In Chinese symbolism:
• The Horse is associated with vitality, movement, and expansive yang energy
• Fire brings brightness, visibility, and transformation
• Together, Fire-Horse years are traditionally seen as dynamic, fast-moving, and powerful

Rather than “burning away the old,” classical thought would frame this as a time when momentum increases and things become more visible and active. What is aligned moves forward swiftly; what is unstable can be exposed just as quickly.

A traditional blessing for the Horse year says it best:

马到成功 (Mǎ dào chéng gōng)
May success arrive as swiftly as a horse.

Most people think Tai Chi power is in the hands.

Power in Tai Chi doesn’t start in the hands.

The hands are only the surface of the wave 🌊

Rooted in the feet,
transmitted by the legs,
directed by the waist,
expressed through the hands.

Cloud Hands isn’t arm-waving —
it’s whole-body connection,
like a wave moving through water.

When the body integrates,
movement becomes effortless.
