Through high plateau trails and ancient hamlets with granite boulders everywhere and even past an ancient burial dolmen here in the high plateau area of the Eastern Pyrenees.

Llivia is a small Spanish enclave sitting in the high plateau area of the French Catalan Pyrenees. Next to her sits the famous high altitude training area of Font Romeau.
Legend has it that Llivia owes its existence to Hercules, what is fact though is that Hannibal travelled through here with his elephants. Just into France sits the Chaos des Targasonne the 2nd largest bouldering area in France after Font.
Today’s trail run took me through forests, high open plateau’s, areas full of gigantic boulders and back into Llavia, where because it has a cathedral and was classed as a city could not be annexed by France.

Two full days of being home now, back in my beautiful Pyrenees Orientales. I have to admit although I love Chamonix and my guiding work when I stop it feels as though I’ve just completed a huge endurance event or race. I respect that feeling now a days and just let all the sympathetic stress slowly washout of me without trying to fight it.
Back to an early sleep routine, breath work and simple morning mobility to ease me back into a place where I can feel ready to leap forward again.
Understanding how and when to let the body rest or play is important, all the mental and physical hacks we can do to help us stay balanced are important.
There are reasons that at the age of 58 I can still perform at the level I do, if you would like to know more and maybe start on a journey of self discovery and growth then drop me a PM.

Day two on the TMB with a super strong team, that actually spent a lot of time chatting, laughing, walking, taking in the views and all the info we could give them of the environment we were passing through. And at the same time crushing the ascents and descents like speed demons at times. The sense of bonding and community in this group is exceptional and I feel so fortunate to be on the trails with them, guiding with my Buddy Kris from and to be guiding for .
So many things to be grateful for.
Today we crossed the Bonhommes to Chapieux. Tomorrow we cross into Italy.

A last run here at home in the Pyrenees Orientales before heading back to Chamonix for my last TMB of the 2026 summer season.
What a privilege to live in the beautiful French Pyrenees in the most southern valley in France the Haut Vallespir and yet at the same time be able to work and play out of the incredible Chamonix valley which is and still feels like my 2nd home.
