The best feedback last week for Rise & Regulate wasn’t about the sunrise.

It was hearing people say:

“I didn’t know what to expect, but I want to come back.”

“The best start to the day.”

“I usually hate small talk, but I loved those conversations.”

That made me smile.

Because the swim, the movement and the coffee are great.

But what people seem to love most is starting the day feeling energised, connected and surrounded by good people.

We’re doing it again tomorrow.

One of the girls said “thank you, I needed that push to get out.”

That’s exactly why we started this.
Yesterday, 10 of us met at the beach before the world woke up. We swam, watched the sun come up, then walked to for coffee and fresh focaccia by . And somewhere between the first sip and the last bite, the conversation got real. About life, about the people around you, about how much lighter everything feels when you have the right ones beside you.

Ever had the same argument on repeat and still can’t work out why?

It’s probably not what you think.

Most conflict isn’t a communication problem. It’s a safety problem. When your body doesn’t feel safe, it goes into survival mode and you can’t connect from there. You defend. You shut down. You say things you don’t mean.

Not because you don’t love each other. But because neither of you feels safe enough to stop.

The good news is that safety is a skill. And it starts with you, not them.

If you want to break the cycle:

Calm your body before you open your mouth. Get clear on what you actually need before you speak. Say what you need to protect the relationship, not win the argument. Choose understanding over being right.

Conflict is normal. Feeling stuck in it doesn’t have to be.

Save this. Share it with someone you argue with more than you’d like.

If you’re sleeping and eating well this Christmas break but still feeling exhausted it’s because you’re getting the wrong type of rest!

This was me.
Even with time off, something felt off.
Not exhausted in an obvious way.
Just flat. Wired. Never fully rested…

I wasn’t lacking sleep because I slept (a lot)!
I was lacking real rest.

Because rest isn’t stopping.
Rest is coming out of survival mode.

See if this feels familiar:

* Lying down but your mind keeps racing
* Resting but still feeling on edge
* Slowing down but feeling guilty
* Exercising to “stay on track” even when your body feels heavy

Your body pauses.
Your nervous system doesn’t.

Your body isn’t saying “sleep more”.
It’s saying: stop overriding me.

Most high-functioning people miss 3 types of rest:

1. Nervous system rest (your body feels safe to soften)
2. Mental rest (no planning, fixing, deciding)
3. Somatic rest (being with your body without pushing)

Miss one and you stay in survival mode, even on holiday.

This isn’t laziness.
And it’s not a mindset issue.

It’s a nervous system one.
